  2. This is riddled with mis-interpretations. Yes, military products are based on the lowest bid... but the requirements for that product for the lowest bid is far far superior than what you would get out of WalMart or even a commercial equipment store since the min requirements for the military is to survive a war. As for technology or products being derived from something that's not for it's original intended purpose.... that's prob 90% or more of all inventions. Finding a use for a product from something that's not from it's original intended purpose does not detract from the fact that the final end product would not have been made if that original unintended product was not made originally.
