Yeah, the writing is on the wall that China will likely (eventually) start nationalizing foreign companies (the remaining 49% foreign owned) to gain more control; and also face long term heavy sanctions once they encroach in nearby country (it may not be TW... it could be PH, Laos, Cambodia, etc). So instead of dealing with that in the next five years, they leave now in a planned process. As China becomes more aggressive in the region, fewer companies will want to take on that risk.

  2. Just to follow on, China's long-term plans are NOT to have any foreign corporations in China, unless they able to "borrow" their intellectual property. This has been the playbook for many many decades... open the market, bring in your advanced technology, and Chinese firms "borrow" (without permission) the technology for their products.
