Aside from your rant about attorneys, I would agree that management doesn't care much about employees. That said, they don't enjoy firing employees... they fire employees because their jobs and/or pay is on the line. The flipside, will employees voluntary to take a 20% pay cut to save their bosses' job? Prob not.

@Justsomerandomguy1727 So what exact protections are you advocating? Western Europe has a lot of worker job protections, and high benefits for laid off workers (up to a year or more salary depending on years of service). However, the cost of that is getting that job can be extremely difficult because employers are very very picky of who they hire because the cost of firing them is so expensive. Other Western European corporate professional jobs are done on a contract basis, which has great perks, but once that contracts up, they have no responsibility to renew.

If you want job security, get a union job.

I'm going to support the company because the value of their contributions do not support the wage they make. The reality is the company doesn't relish firing employees... they fire employees because they have to.

@Justsomerandomguy1727 Unions are typically for non professional employee. It also hurts top performers, as pay scales are pre-set... so top performers will leave for non-union positions, and the company become uncompetitive. That's the problem with unions... it disincentivizes what makes a company better. Essentially, this is what we see in government is what a mass unionized workforce would look like. Is that what you want?

So people film themselves get fired. They upload that video... and fully expect to get hired again?!?!

Those AI bots are exactly why getting a job is hard... open jobs get a few thousand resumes, and those who don't use AI will just get lost in the ocean of resume. So yes, relationships matter, and kissing up to your boss (since they are the one who decides to get fired first).
