While it's illegal in the US to ask such questions... but I can understand the employer's side. I worked in a mega large corporation which hired a woman, and she got pregnant, before she even passed probation. Once she had her first child, and when on extended family leave... and when it was about the end, guess what... she was pregnant again. She basically showed up for three months of work, and went on leave for 2.5 years before she came back.

@royn5349 There is a difference taking a few hours off to do something, or even a week off if they are sick. It's completely different when someone takes 2.5 years off.

@jarrodwilson2382 They don't want to hire themselves. Otherwise, there is no one to complain about.

@joakim1159 Well, in the new times... the man can also go on family leave. Albeit, a pregnant woman can on on disability and then on leave for more time off... but men can also take time off these days, which is more fair. However, extended leave is typically unpaid, so someone has to pay the bills if one person stays at home.
