Comments by "Morgan King" (@MorganKing95) on "The Karate Kid Part 3: Terry Silver vs. Mike Barnes Fight (RALPH MACCHIO SCENE 4K ULTRA HD)" video.
He was pretending to be a nice guy to Daniel here. In a previous scene he had a rant about wanting to make Daniel suffer, and in another one he gleefully talked about causing Daniel pain and fear and cackling when Kreese suggested that Daniel's knuckles should be bleeding

@UnfunnyDaffenDales98775 I mean it's staged in-universe
7
No, he's bad alright; it's just a facade to gain Daniel's trust
3
This is staged so that Daniel thinks Silver is a good guy
3
If you believe he's being genuinely nice in this scene, then you need to watch the movie over again
3
Yeah... you not having seen the movies explains why you think that Terry Silver is a good guy
3
Gee, I wonder why
3
He was never a nice guy; this entire fight between him and Mike Barnes was set up so that Daniel would think Terry was actually nice. If you've watched the movie, then there are two scenes before this where Terry talks about wanting to make Daniel suffer hard and manipulate him
2
@luxurybuzz3681 I'm talking about The Karate Kid part III here (which this clip is from), not Cobra Kai
2
No, he's just pretending to be nice to manipulate Daniel
2
He's 4 months YOUNGER
2
It's Mike who is grabbing him, not Daniel
2
It's an act to gain Daniel's trust as part of his manipulation
2
He was manipulating him
2
What are you talking about?
1
No
1
A nice guy? He's manipulating Daniel to gain his trust. Watch the movie
1
Duh! Did you even watch the movie, or did you just watch this clip?
1
@Godpk11 Come to think of it, I've seen multiple comments saying "Is this before Terry became a bad guy?" or "Why do Daniel and Terry look like they're friends?"
1
He never got a real black belt. Miyagi stole one just so Daniel could enter, and he only saw the tournament as a means to an end
1
Well, Karate Kid part III is generally considered the weakest one in the original trilogy
1
No, it's from "The Karate Kid part III"
1
Rocky IV was the highest-grossing movie in the Rocky franchise at that point in addition to Lundgren being considered the main highlight. The Karate Kid part III was a box-office disappointment and received much colder reviews than Rocky IV, with Thomas Ian Griffith being considered a saving grace at best
1
I watched the original trilogy on DVD almost religiously between 2006 and 2007
1
He never "betrayed" Daniel; he was always pretending to be nice and only revealed his true colors when Daniel was about to quit
1
@LoiKush420 "He seems like a really nice guy here" clearly indicates that he's talking about this movie. The rest of the comment is about Cobra Kai
1
@LoiKush420 My comment was directed towards "He really seems like a nice guy here", and only that part since the OP seems to believe that Terry was being genuinely nice in this scene, when in reality it was just a façade
1
He looks younger because it's a clip from 1989; Thomas Ian Griffith (Terry) was 27 in this movie
1
It was almost 30 years between the third movie and the first season of Cobra Kai. They have had way more time to make the fights look better
1
That's Terry Silver, and he's only "helping" Daniel to gain his trust. If you like him, then Terry really is a manipulative genius
1
Uh, he was the main antagonist of the 4th season of Cobra Kai?
1
@Grandmaster_Sub-Zero The season has been out for 1 month now, and multiple trailers, articles, and teasers mentioned Terry's return. It's basically as much of a spoiler as Darth Vader being Luke Skywalker's father at this point
1
He's pretending to be nice to trick Daniel
1
"That's wat niggaz in my hood do to u... beat the shit out of u on the streets" Yes, and what happens next? They get arrested not too long after, whereas if you manipulate the authorities and convince them that you're public spirited, you can keep your façade and continue to cause misery to your enemies without the authorities even suspecting you. That's why mobsters managed to keep their power up even when they became old
1
@mr.sinister1279 Can't tell if you're just a troll or not, but Dunning-Krueger is clearly showing up here
1
He was always bad
1
It feels like a rehash of the original movie, Daniel is highly unlikeable, the tournament sequence is highly rushed, the fighting scenes are dull, and neither the bonsai shop subplot nor the romantic subplot with Jessica go anywhere. Mike also doesn't have much personality other than being angry all the time
1
Where do you think Cobra Kai got their flashbacks from?
1
It's an act to gain Daniel's trust
1
@davejay6855 It was staged! Terry's plan was always to cause Daniel (the kid) pain and suffering, so he hired Mike (the guy in red) to harass him, and also staged this entire fight to gain Daniel's trust and manipulate him
1
It's Mike, not Daniel
1
You mean Daniel
1
Yes
1
1. Actor, not autor 2. Terry Silver's actor is actually 4 months younger than Ralph Macchio
1
He's manipulating Daniel to gain his trust. At this point, Daniel and Miyagi think Terry is a friend of John Kreese who takes over the Cobra Kai dojo to commemorate the latter's death, but also change the ideology. They also don't know that the guy in red is actually hired by Terry to constantly harass Daniel.
1
Chozen hands down. Barnes is so clumsy and uncoordinated that it's embarrassing, and he was only a threat because Daniel was scared
1
And a 4th movie
