Comments by "Morgan King" (@MorganKing95) on "Top 10 Greatest Teen Movies" video.
Kewl Beans "Rebel Without A Cause" made the teen movie genre more well-known and common, as well as changing the ways the American youth were portrayed in movies. Not to mention that James Dean was a cultural icon

James Dean as an actor is still revelant; I think he had stronger emotions and a bigger spontaneity than most actors I've seen today. I agree that the story of "Rebel Without A Cause" isn't that relavant today, but I enjoy the 50's style and the movie sure was influential

The only reason I like it is because of the 50's look on the characters (and some of the songs naturally). Other than that, I think the story and characters are pretty bland
2
fobpatdrkcgp I don't care so much about the plot or think it's any good or special, but I like the music, the 50's look, and the concept of gangs (or whatever you call it)

happysister Many people today think of "The Room" when they hear "You're tearing me apart", and it actually provokes me a lot because I think it ruins James Dean's entire legacy, and people can't take "Rebel Without A Cause" (and the quote) seriously because of "The Room"

happysister James Dean's delivery had a clear subtext and motivation, especially when combined with the next thing he says ("You say one thing, he says another, and everybody changes back again"). Tommy Wiseau sounds like he doesn't know what he is saying
2
+LUXITANE Shh, we don't talk about that disgrace of a movie
2
Because it has ruined James Dean's legacy, and James Dean was on the same level as Marlon Brando and Montgomery Clift (or at least close to)
2
We don't talk about Tommy Wiseau here. I hate him for ruining James Dean's legacy

Brittany williams It's definitely his most iconic movie role

+ssesf Movies That's your argument? LOL
1
NO! James DEAN, the iconic method actor from the 50's
1
James Dean is a lot more iconic though, and his acting abilities and the portrayal of a rebellious yet misunderstood teenager are definitely relevant today

happysister First of all that the line is not delivered in the same exact way. Second of all, with the original scene and quote, there was a clear situation. While "The Room" is just nonsense from start to finish, and most people don't even know that "You are tearing me apart" is originally from "Rebel Without A Cause", and they start to laugh or think about "The Room" when they hear the quote
1
I can definitely see the similarities. I guess that's why I like them both so much

+KentuckyFriedNandos The characters in 8 Mile are at least in their 20's, and it deals with young adult problems in the Hip-Hop environment
1
The Karate Kid is more of a martial arts film despite featuring teenagers; it focuses more on the protagonist building up his karate skills (both the physical and mental aspect of it) than the typical teenage conflicts

+Skeletor1889 James Dean was a way better actor than even most adults today, and "Rebel Without A Cause" is still iconic and influential. But I guess you're one of those who thought the movie industry began in the 21st century.
