Don't be ridiculous; that performance is ranked #1 on Premiere Magazine top 100 best performances of all time

Have you seen "Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind" or "Man on the Moon"? Jim Carrey is actually very good in dramatic roles (maybe even better than in comedic roles), and the ending of "The Truman Show" also proved that. He didn't win a Golden Globe for Best Actor - Drama for nothing

+camillekatrina Geoge Lazenby was much more panned than Dalton (haven't even heard that the latter was criticized)
3
I think way more people hate Pierce Brosnan's singing in Mamma Mia
2
+kelly r Weird that most people care a lot more for the adult actors than the children/teenagers (ok, they have more experience, but still)
1
he wasn't so bad in "Primal Fear" and "Chicago"
1
not "Leaving Las Vegas"
1
Most movie adaptations of fighting games are stupid. Just look at "Dead or Alive" and "Tekken"
1
He is now nominated for an Oscar
1
Oh yes, his singing was just painful and with no soul or vibrato at all. Not to mention emotions
1
Yes, but Anthony Perkins had a perfect balance of these two traits, and who can forget about his creepy smile in the end? Vince Vaughn just looks shy, and in an annoying and unnatural way; Perkins on the other hand was shy but you still some mystique and creepyness in him, and his line "We all go a little mad sometimes" felt very ominous
1
still saw some*
1
Daryl Hannah in "Wall Street". Even Oliver Stone admitted she was miscast, and she "won" a Razzie for Worst Supporting Actress, a huge contrast to Michael Douglas who won an Academy Award for Best Actor. I would also have added Shelley Duvall in "The Shining"
1
he was amazing in "Leaving Las Vegas" though, and has received critical acclaim for "Adaptation", "Matchstick Men", and "Joe", as well as "Raising Arizona" and "Moonstruck"
1
I never enjoyed "The Great Gatsby", but I thought Leo was a saving grace. Tobey Maguire seemed more miscast
1
Let's see if Warren Beatty can nail the role if he ever finishes that new Howard Hughes movie
1
christopher leo daniels You seem to know what you're talking about, so I respect that. I'm just curious how it will turn out and maybe if he (Warren) exceeds your expectations
1
he is nothing compared to Anthony Perkins' portrayal
1
He was kind of forced to take on the role. It was the only way Mel Gibson could get financing for the film
1
not all of his movies suck
1
They appear on the "Another top 10 worst casting choice" list though
1
+lilb1190 some of these movies wouldn't have made any actor look good though
1
"Ban all remakes"? Alright, let's ban "Ben-Hur" and "The Departed" then
1
SPOILER That's the actually the #1 choice for the second edition of this list
1
the film itself was so horrible that not even Daniel Stern wanted to reprise his role there
1
Compared to Anthony Perkins, his portrayal is not good at all
1
Maurice Dalaimo "Not easy to be creepy". It depends; there are some actors that seem to be creepy just by being there, like Jack Nicholson, Willem DaFoe, Clint Eastwood, and Christopher Walken. Vincent Price, Bela Lugosi, and Lon Chaney also seemed to have that gift
1
How does that make sense?
1
Check part 2 of this list
1
Brits have been able to play Americans in a handful of movies: - Christian Bale: almost every Hollywood film - Gary Oldman: "Dark Knight" trilogy - Daniel Day-Lewis: "Gangs of New York", "There Will Be Blood", and "Lincoln"
1
Jim Carrey was enjoyable, just like he always is
1
Tom Cruise actually had many acclaimed roles in the 80's and 90's, and Nicolas Cage was great in "Leaving Las Vegas"
1
You don't need to be a filmmaker to criticize a film. You base your judgment based on the standard other directors have set and what you expect from a movie director

Looks like I found the SJW in the comments section

@nancyomalley9959 Any evidence for it being sexist? For the most part, you're just projecting it because you view the film industry's framework from the paradigm of radical feminism rather than letting the industry's framework speak for itself. Any substantiated empirical evidence for your claims would require a positivist affirmation that the cause-effects are directly linked to the patriarchy, because radical feminism is a positivist paradigm, and everyone knows how flawed positivism is. If you're so against how the film industry is institutionalized, then go create your own society that conforms to your radical feminism, because the industry is not giving you any special treatment because of some victim mentality on your part
1
Three words: suspension of disbelief (which got ruined for most people). I mean, you wouldn't cast a chubby 40 year old woman in "Chicago" or a skeletal 20 year old in "300", would you?
1
He didn't have much of a choice; it was either him playing the lead role or Paramount wouldn't fund the movie. He didn't actually want to star in it
1
@nancyomalley9959 Can you imagine an unattractive actor playing Stanley Kowalski or an obsese actor playing Rambo? It's called "suspension of disbelief", and a lot of casting choices ruin it, including having a fat woman playing Betty
1
It's all a matter of context. If I was looking for an actor to play a wrestler or bouncer for example, I wouldn't have cast someone who's skinny as hell
1
You kinda need someone who compliments the overall aesthetics and traits of the person the actor portrays though. You wouldn't cast a chubby middle-aged woman in "Chicago" for example (though I've seen two instances of that)
