  1. Every actor needs to start somewhere before he/she can be called a celebrity, and having too many celebrities in one movie can often be kinda cheap since the director relies on their popularity rather than their abilities.

They are meant to show the percentage of critics (and users) that enjoyed the film, so if a movie has a 100% rating, it's more likely to be universally praised (doesn't mean everyone thinks it's a masterpiece though). I'd say that's better than just showing what 1 person thinks. The user reviews at IMDB however are cancer
