The warfare sequences in "Saving Private Ryan" are meant to highlight the horrors, violence, and misery of the war, and they are meant to make the audience either feel sad, shocked, or uncomfortable. There you have a difference

Kareem Roberts It's not action; it's about an honest man yet Mafia family outsider (Michael Corleone) being motivated by revenge and slowly turning to the Mafia side he initially wanted nothing to do with. It's about rivalry between Mafia families and family loyalty, and it is meant to be an allegory of capitalism. It's actually more of a character-driven story. It contains shooting sequences, but that's just to create intensity and suspense just like a thriller, and there is very little of those sequences compared to the traditional definition of an action film
