+Sassy Sushi No
9
+Marc Magma Draco disarmed Dumbledore, and then Harry disarmed Draco
7
+Mr. Challenge Severus Snape. Not only because I have a bias for characters dressed in black, but because I love characters that you initially view as a villain, but ultimately cannot put in the category as one; makes him more interesting and human
6
+Joelle Carrion Only in the U.S.
5
+The Realest Yes, because that's the British title of a British book/film written by a British author
4
+Adriana That's only in the U.S.
2
+catsforeverxx It's even more heartbreaking when you find out that it was not acting; George's actor really felt disturbed about seeing his brother "dead"
2
+Jake Nash I haven't noticed it that much, but it does make sense
2
+Chris Jr Congratulations, you just learned about the British title
2
+Jib G Only in the U.S
2
miraxterrik Blame Crabbe's actor who got himself arrested
2
+Andrew Rodriguez Draco disarmed Dumbledore's wand in "Half-Blood prince" and Harry disarmed Draco in "Deathly Hallows part 1"
2
+Uncle Screw Only in the U.S.
1
+Sarina Martin but both USA and United Kingdom speak English, and "Philosopher's stone" is an actual mythological object, so why was the change so necessary? My country (Norway) sure got into the series despite the title literally translating to "Stone of the wise"
1
+Nixo Satori Goyle had to die in the movie instead because Crabbe's actor got arrested
1
+Allmightyimortal He did in the movie
1
+Andreas Nicolaisen James is the English name. Jacob/Jakob is a translation
1
Her* death
1
+Mitchell Wiley Yes, that's the British title
1
+Wade k 21 No; everybody thought he did, but when Harry and Hermione went back in time, it turned out that they actually saved him
1
+Melissa Clark That wasn't seen though, and we didn't get time to get attached to her
1
+Voltage 3722 What are you laughing at?
1
Voltage 3722 Only in the U.S.
1
+THE PVC MASTER No, that's only in the U.S.
1
THE PVC MASTER Well, the American publishers thought that American children wouldn't read a book called "Philosopher's Stone" and associate it with magic, so they changed it into "Sorcerer's stone"
1
+acamille78 Didn't Harry disarm Malfoy and became the true owner?
1
+Teodora And yet you're able to write this comment
1
Wow, you're being so mature...
1
Don't they have sarcasm where you come from?
1
Teodora You don't answer sarcasm with sarcasm, especially not when you disagree with me. And using "puta" is hopeless since everybody knows what that means
1
Teodora Do as you wish, but personal attack is a fallacy, so you lose more and more credibility for every reply. And why would you use a foreign word if your intention is not to not make me understand?
1
+Hi Ketel Why?
1
+riza ramadhan The death didn’t really ocurr. From what I have understood, all the "new" events that ocurr during the time travel are what were actually supposed to happen
1
They wrote it as "Crabbe/Goyle" to signal that one of them (Crabbe) died in the book, while the other one (Goyle) died in the film instead
1
+lana lana "Gut-wrenching" (in the correct definition, not how WatchMojo interpret it) means that it's emotional, overwhelming, or disturbing
1
+Karl the Sci-Fi Guy He died in the novel, but they had to make Goyle die in the movie because Crabbe's actor was arrested
1
+mermaidwitch94 They wrote it as Crabbe/Goyle as a way to say "Crabbe dies in the novel, but Goyle dies in the film" Remember, they tried to use some information from the novels
1
+Michael Valencia It was in Deathly Hallows, and it happened off-screen
1
+David Fracken They're still human, they're just not muggles
1
+victor haveman Only if you're American
1
He was there
1
+Goomers He didn't die; the horcrux in himself did, but he was unable to get his own body until the fourth book/movie
1
+MINECRAFT PRO EVER "Sorcerer's stone" is only in the U.S.
1
+The SunChaser Nagini's death made Voldemort "mortal" again
1
+Valerie Peppers That's only in the U.S.
1
+VixXstazosJOB Well, for one, it doesn't make sense to call it "gut-wrenching" deaths when you include the deaths of two hated villains
1
Not to me either. If this was a list for "most satisfying deaths", then that should be the top pick
1
+Tan DaMan - Philosopher's Stone: British title - Sorcerer's Stone: American title
1
I was certain that either Dumbledore, Sirius, or Cedric would be #1, but instead we got Voldemort? (a person we wanted dead). The death wasn't even that well-handled, and the only gut-wrenching part was that I knew that the franchise I grew up with would soon be over.
1
+Steelvie It's the fiendfyre curse that take shape of Voldemort's face; Crabbe/Goyle died when he fell into the inferno
1
No, it was Fred: http://harrypotter.wikia.com/wiki/Fred_Weasley
1
+Ghost Dragon But all the other graphic moments in the films are fine? Okay...
1
Ghost Dragon Seeing someone unwillingly choke themselves to death doesn't feel very disturbing to me. I'm for Josh Needle's argument.
1
+Pokemon For the Win Harry disarmed Draco (whom disarmed Dumbledore)
1
+BeastBoom 24 Actually, Crabbe died in the book. Goyle had to die in the movie instead because Crabbe's actor got arrested
1
+Aoife Weischedel They had to make Goyle die in the film because Crabbe's actor was arrested
1
+Jacob Sledziona He disappeared from the movies after "Chamber of Secrets"
1
+effooo2000 Was it even talked about in the movies?
1
+The angry Whomp 64 That's the American title
1
+XxAg3nt0fCha0sxX Because that's the British title, you darn yank!
1
+Connor Trunnell Are you making fun of the British title of a British franchise? Anglophobe!
1
+Maya Mccroy sigh Why can't you Americans never learn? https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Harry_Potter_and_the_Philosopher's_Stone
1
+Brayden Ivy They're Canadian, so it's not that surprising. Plus that the franchise isn't American
1
Oh really, mr. Anglophobe? https://www.empireonline.com/movies/harry-potter-philosopher-stone/review/
1
+Caitlin Maiwald Not in the UK: http://www.cosmopolitan.com/uk/entertainment/a13787508/harry-potter-an-oral-history-of-the-philosophers-stone/
1
+George A WatchMojo are not American, and Harry Potter isn't either
1
+Itzik nisim It happened off-screen and was rarely talked about
1
+ben peregrin Yes: https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Harry_Potter_and_the_Philosopher's_Stone_(film)
1
+SWEDEN BALL "Crucio!"
