You're definitely not alone

Philosopher's Stone is the British (and therefore correct) title
4
Oh for Christ's sake, why can't you Americans learn that the title got changed in your country?
2
Only in the U.S. (a stupid decision imo)
2
goodguynow Because the American publishers thought American children wouldn't read a book with the title "Philosopher's Stone" and associate it with magic despite it being an actual mythological object with the same lore as the one mentioned
1
The book "Philosopher's Stone" was released on June 26, 1997
1
because "Sophie's Choice" has virtually become a term meaning "agonizing decision where the outcome is bad no matter what you choose", similar to how "Quisling" now is a term meaning "traitor"

The story went a bit like this: - J.K. Rowling writes the book with the title "Philosopher's Stone" and publishes it in the UK - She tries to sell the book in the USA, but the publishers claim that American children most likely wouldn't read "Philosopher" and associate it with magic despite the "Philosopher's Stone" being an actual object, so it gets changed into "Sorcerer's Stone" in the U.S. - When the movie comes out, it's still "Philosopher's Stone" in the UK and "Sorcerer's Stone" in the U.S.

walter soprano No, I was talking to Dayionify and Arbereshe (hard to tag them on my mobile). I perfectly agree with your statements
1
walter soprano No problem
1
No, they definitely got it right this time with #1
1
Because "Sorcerer's Stone" is only in the U.S. and is a localization
1
+DaDominator32 Only in the U.S.
1
Yeah, so?
1
Harry probably realized that, which also might explain why you see their holograms fade out before Harry says "You liar!"

+MrEpicGaming XD Oh really? https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Harry_Potter_and_the_Philosopher's_Stone_(film)

1
+Sai Z. Don't feel sorry for the "The good son"; he was evil!
1
Ha! FAIL: https://www.empireonline.com/movies/harry-potter-philosopher-stone/review/ How the hell don't you know such simple facts, loser?
1
Not in the UK!

+Aden I Jermain You must be a 21st century baby, and they're too stupid to appreciate movies
1
+Aden I Jermain "Naw my wrong mate"? That doesn't make any sense
1
+Aden I Jermain Excellent comeback... not! Also, you're still a low-cultured kid
1
+Aden I Jermain So? Middle-aged men torment young adults, so it's only natural that we young adults torment kids. Kids are also useless and annoying!
1
Oh really? https://www.empireonline.com/movies/harry-potter-philosopher-stone/review/
1
How could they have said The Last Jedi when it didn't even exist yet?
1
That's the British title (also used in Canada), so that's not any strange
1
+Goose The sequels for "Halloween" and "Friday the 13th" were never popular amongst critics (and some were not popular amongst fans either), and the sequels for "A Nightmare On Elm Street" were very up and down in critical acclaim. As for Star Wars, the original trilogy was loved, the prequels were hated, and the new sequels have had some fans and some haters.
1
Yeah, so?
1
@Mr.America2 NOPE: https://www.empireonline.com/movies/harry-potter-philosopher-stone/review/ Epic fail!
1
+Marco Balcazar Are you laughing at the British title of a British franchise? You uncultured anglophobe!
1
Because he was an evil psychopath?
1
Making fun of the British title, are we?
1
+IdioticDeadpool You can't really saw chains

+AchinForBacon You uncultured anglophobe!!! https://unlawfulacts.net/2016/07/17/harry-potter-and-the-philosophers-stone-by-j-k-rowling/
1
+AchinForBacon That was before Harry Potter even existed, and it's also irrelevant since you're still wrong about "Sorcerer's Stone" being the correct title, and you also don't respect the franchise since you deny the British title
1
+AchinForBacon 1. I'm not from the UK either 2. I'm part of multiple networks, but I don't need to be with them 24/7. Replying here takes less than a minute
