Heath Ledger appeared in the highly-acclaimed "Brokeback Mountain" before he appeared in "The Dark Knight", and his career had mostly been very steady

When was he down?

+Zombifyed They weren't released yet, but I agree ("Joe" was technically released, but had very limited distribution at the point the video was uploaded)

Don't forget "Christopher Columbus : The Discovery". He even admitted that he only did the role for money and didn't try to make an effort

+Tori Ellis It was more of a late breakthrough than comeback for Samuel

Brando's portrayal is actually very accurate to the novel, and I cannot imagine that Laurence Olivier would have had a similar performance; he was way too conservative
1
He's had about three comeback performances ("First Blood", "Cliffhanger", "Rocky Balboa") since his career has been very up and down

Same here

+MrMspinks1 Al Pacino was Oscar-nominated two years before "Scent of a Woman" (for the movie "Dick Tracy"), so that got him back a little bit. One thing I find ironic is that he turned down "GoodFellas" in fear of typecasting before being typecast in "Dick Tracy"

He has never been down; almost all of his movies have been well-received, and those movies that were not well-received didn't ruin his career

Well, he was nominated for 5 Academy Awards in the 50's, with his performance in "A Streetcar Named Desire" being called one of the most influential in modern film acting, and "On The Waterfront" being ranked #2 on the Premiere Magazine list over 100 greatest performances of all time, and his character in "The Wild One" being the one that influenced James Dean and Elvis' images. Brando was great in the 70's, but I believe it's his performances in the 50's he will be most praised for.

"Pulp Fiction" was released before it, and earned him an Oscar nomination (as well as a Golden Globe nomination and BAFTA nomination). "Get Shorty" was also released before "Face/Off" and won him a Golden Globe for Best Actor - Comedy or Musical

the 4th Rambo movie got mixed reviews, but the sixth Rocky movie (which was also released before it) was very well-received by both critics and fans, so I consider that to be more of a comeback
1
The video was uploaded a year before "Birdman"

+Yes Sir! I love "The Godfather". I went as far as buying a hoodie
1
Horrible visual effects and art direction, hammy acting that's laughable, overuse of Dutch Angle and slow motion, and a plot that's full of holes and doesn't make sense at all
1
"Brokeback Mountain" was highly acclaimed, and Daniel Day-Lewis dedicated his SAG Award for "There Will Be Blood" to him and called his performance perfection
