Lots of Americans need to watch this too.

The US thought that if the voting public was naive enough to elect a strong man, then the Electors would disregard their votes and vote for another, better candidate. However nowadays the Electors never go against the will of the people, and in some states they are bound by law to vote according the voters. The position is now antiquated

The choices have never been more different.

Every vote does count because they need votes to win the states. Even safe states that reliably vote Democrat or Republican can flip if enough people vote or choose not to vote. This is what happened in 2016 when lots of the uneducated white Americans voted for Trump, in states that were considered Democratic leaning.

Chuan Liang Just vote Democrat

Paying for advertisement. Let’s not pretend it’s something nefarious
2
Sam Hawes Sure but it’s not as if they’re buying officials or bribing anyone. They’re paying for advertisement space, or donating to campaigns who then pay for advertising. The real problem is dumb people who swallow political ads as truth. Cough cough right wingers
2
Sam Hawes It is not buying officials. It is not buying anyone

It’s not the donor class it’s the poor rural class in small states, that has an outsized effect on the Electoral College. Small states have a higher amount of Electoral Votes relative to their populations.
2
It’s due to states’ rights. Small states like Wyoming have a larger proportion of Electoral Votes than large states like California. So Republicans often win the smaller rural states, and Democrats win the larger and wealthier urban states, with the Swing States going either way. But the GOP often wins without the popular vote due to the outsized effect of small states.

WildwoodCastle New York and Chicago are some of the wealthiest areas in the nation. In fact Greater Chicago feeds all of Illinois. Taxes go from liberal centres to conservative ones.

John Henry Form their strategy? Trump has announced no major platform this year. In 2016 his plan was denounced by experts as non-sensible and racist. He divided the country by threatening to ban Muslims and limiting legal immigration
1
John Henry Obama never advocated against banning an entire religion, Islam. Nor did Obama or the Democrats campaign on reducing legal immigration and trapping undocumented immigrants in permanent limbo instead of amnesty. That’s all the GOP and Trump
1
John Henry Obama was enforcing laws set by the GOP and demanded by the public. He and Democrats have consistently pushed for immigration reform, meaning letting more immigrate legally and for amnesty, which would reduce the number of undocumented immigrants. Conservatives said no.
1
John Henry House passed bills that the Senate refused to pickup. And it’s a fact that the GOP limits immigration and the Democrats want to preserve and expand it.
1
John Henry I read plenty. Did YOU not notice how the GOP has been anti immigrant and anti-refugee since 2016? Or even during the Obama years? GOP controlled both houses for a few years and passed legislation to deport undocumented immigrants. The officials also encouraged xenophobia and nationalism among the right wing voters with support of measures such as no amnesty and fear mongering such as with the killing of Kate Stein.
1
John Henry Immigrants do not need help. They come to work and the CATO Institute reports that legal and illegals are less likely to need government aid or commit crimes than native born citizens
1
John Henry where is the proof that immigrants, legal or illegal, are a burden? If you lose your job to someone else that is your fault. Try going to school and taking responsibility.
1
John Henry If you aren’t threatened by immigration then you’d have no reason to oppose it. The reason you do oppose it therefore must be because of racism
1
Trevin Beattie The small states have a larger proportion of electors than larger states. It’s a tyranny of the poor, rural, uneducated, minority.

A Public Forum for Discussion Trump did not build up either. Remember the Russian Bounty Scandal, and how Trump did NOTHING to punish Russia for killing Americans? Or how Trump is responsible for the Coronavirus being as bad as it is, killing 200,000 and costing billions in relief?
1
A Public Forum for Discussion It was on the news. He still hasn’t done anything. And he even admitted on TV to downplaying the virus. His supporters which aren’t smart enough to trust experts take his word as truth and spread the virus
1
Martinus Democrats are not pro-China. Trump meanwhile allowed Russia to place bounties on US servicemen.
1
A Public Forum for Discussion If all the news agencies are reporting the same thing, it is true. Otherwise where is the proof that the Russian Bounty Scandal is false?
1
A Public Forum for Discussion Where is the proof?
1
A Public Forum for Discussion Where is the proof that Trump is tough on China, even though he’s backed out of the TPP, insulted the military, and praises dictators including Xi Jingping? Even Mattis said Trump has no moral compass and is unfit. And where is the proof that Biden is weak on China?
1
A Public Forum for Discussion I would like to see where the proof for these statements are. Did you read them from articles or opinion pieces? Show me please
1
A Public Forum for Discussion I know he did a trade war that hurt Americans, and the intent stated was not to punish China for any reason. And I know he walked back the trade war and accomplished nothing

@stargarden2577 I am also American, but I’m a liberal from Massachussets, so I’m better than most.

Sam Hawes Dude, Biden got the nomination because he won the Primary against Sanders. Had little to do with lobbying. Lobbying also is not illegal or corrupt. Nobody gets rich from taking lobbyist dollars. It all goes to campaigning.
1
Derek Kent Trump is a corrupt corporatist who appoints friends and cronies to his cabinet. He and the GOP rolled back regulations to protect workers and regular people. See the bogus GOP tax cuts.
1
Alligator I mean it is sorta true. Countryfolk live insular lives and tend not to appreciate the big picture
1
Not true, politicians depend on those voters in “safe states” to turn up and vote. And even safe states can flip, as in 2016. Texas is now a Battleground State which is impressive, it used to be safely Republican
