Waffle SS I am white, firstly. Secondly, the reason why blacks tend not to vote Republican is because Republicans do nothing about 21st Century racial injustice, they are opposed to Affirmative Action, opposed to social services, opposed to BLM and police reform, they support gerrymandering and voter suppression...not hard to see why if you’re black you’re more likely to support Democrats. They are the party that actually gets stuff done

Waffle SS you are the reason why black Americans are voting for Democrats 80+% of the time

An ID is onerous to achieve. Don’t lie, you know the only reason why REPUBLICANS are pushing for this law is because they know it will limit the liberals’ abilities to vote. It is disenfranchisement. They also make it harder to get ID, by bottlenecking local facilities that issue IDs, or by making the process tedious for those with hyphenated names which may have discrepancies across documents.

@steviestevie9938 you support this why? You racist?
2
Young people, urban people, black and Hispanic people, are less likely for example to drive and have a drivers’ license a common type of government ID. Requiring an ID to vote means that for millions of Americans, they’ll need to slog through the bureaucracy and get an ID issued to them. Republicans have also gutted social services in liberal areas like big cities, making it even harder to get government ID. This is how the laws are racist

@steviestevie9938 I just find it difficult to understand how someone can support a bill meant to disenfranchise minorities, and in the same breath say they’re not racist

Republicans are lying to themselves. This is a cynical attempt to limit the vote for liberals. It would be one thing if they made Id easier to get, or provided it free for everyone. Instead they hide it behind bureaucracy, because they know that for example, liberal voters tend to be younger, urban, and non-white, and these same people are also less likely to drive and have a drivers’ license
1
@carolinaview7254 for example, I am 25, born in 1995. When I was in college, I didn’t have a drivers license. If I lived in a Republican-controlled state like Texas, then I would’ve been ineligible to vote in the very important elections like in the Midterms.

@VaporeonEnjoyer1 the Republicans passed this law because they KNOW it will target and disrupt black people from voting. For a variety of demographic reasons, some people are more likely to live in cities, not drive or have a drivers’ license (the most common photo ID), etc. Republicans also gutted the government departments in charge of issuing IDs, especially in areas that lean Democrat, like the cities. this is how the id laws target minorities and are racist
1
Waffle SS what an interesting spin, it is racist to protect the voting rights of people, in this case minorities, when Republicans are attacking them? Don’t you think Republicans are the ones being bigoted, for trying to exclude black people, the young, city dwellers, etc from voting?
1
@theshadylady1982 when I was in college, I didn’t drive. I had no government ID. Lots of city dwellers, the urban poor, students demographics who to tend to vote liberal don’t drive and so have NO GOVERNMENT ID. THIS IS WHY REPUBLICANS HAVE SOUGHT TO PASS THESE LAWS. THE COURTS EVEN SAID THAT REPUBLICANS TARGETED BLACK VOTERS WITH SURGICAL PRECISION THEIR RACISM IS DOCUMENTED ONLINE
1
@DoSe420 you can Google these words right now “Republican surgical precision black voters” You’ll find multiple articles describing how Republicans have tried very hard to disenfranchise black people because they are perceived correctly as a liberal bloc
