@roechambeau8420 false. Baathist Iraq and Germany in WWII encouraged gun ownership among their people. Tyrants don’t always restrict guns, sometimes they encourage it. Civilian gun ownership doesn’t deter them. And what about democratic nations like the UK or Japan which restrict guns? Why can’t the US be like them? Democratic but with lower rates of murder, and gun-murder?
1
@roechambeau8420 NGO reports like the Democracy Index are proof that Japan and the UK are democratic, in fact they rate higher than the US since Trump and the Republicans took power in 2016, their corruption and divisive governance caused the US to slide backwards. But this is proof that the UK and Japan, plus all other developed nations, are good comparisons to the US, they are all democratic. And therefore, this is proof that if gun control works there, it’ll work in the US too, and save lives.
1
@66littlejimmy the top ten most dangerous towns in the US do not include Chicago.
1
@66littlejimmy it’s proof that gun control saves lives. Rather, all other developed nations are proof
1
@sensou33 Chicago is not a dangerous city, the right wing just claims it is to lie and deflect
1
@Lightningwolf0925 even if what you’re implying is true, I don’t see why it matters. Restricting guns saves lives, other developed countries are proof.
1
@AlmostOutside it’s true, I am smart. I make six figures at age 27. I’m a liberal vegan. I am self righteous and I am most likely a better person than you ever will be. I support gun control. Who are you?
1
Why is the right wing so triggered
1
Rick Sanchez C137 go to college and stop typing silly things
1
How come other stable democracies like the UK and Japan don’t have as much gun rights?
1
Sam Saliba I was using Democracy loosely. If you want to be technical, all developed nations are democratic-republics, US, UK, etc. Gun Control works there it can work in the US
1
D33Lux the anti gun nations are doing well. NGO reports like the Democracy Index prove it
1
Marcfj before saying things without evidence, do research
1
Marcfj UK and Japan have gun control, there’s no tyranny there. Most Western nations have gun control
1
Billy Bob It’s not a coincidence that the US has the highest rate of gun crime in the Western World, coupled with the least restrictive gun laws. UK has high knife crime but I’m sure that the bad guys would use handguns if they could get them, because guns are more effective weapons than knives. The fact that guns are rarely used in the U.K. and other nations proves that Gun Control is keeping guns away from bad guys. The murder rates in these nations is also many times lower, proving that when you remove guns, bad guys can’t commit as much murder.
1
I mean, shouldn’t we? Why only in America? Why US has the highest rate of murder in the developed world?
1
What about the UK? Or Japan?
1
@billcarson818 so being annoying means he deserves to get shot and maybe killed or paralyzed?
1
@heyitsanthony6366 i don’t think putting a phone in someone’s face, without any other body part, is at all comparable to raising a brick. No reasonable person would assume this was the start of an attack. Secondly, what if I approached a woman or a child, a teenager, and I came on a little strong or awkward, and then they assumed like this man did that I was dangerous and shot me. Is that justified? I would say no, your wild imagination is not an excuse to unleash lethal force. What happened here is an exception, not typical. And it’s just jury nullification
1
@heyitsanthony6366 so…if someone tall like 6ft tall is invading your personal space, you have the right to shoot them?
1
@heyitsanthony6366 so, “size bullying” is the problem? Being tall and holding a phone up to someone’s head for a few seconds is grounds for lethal force if you’re taller? What if they were the same size? Then this would be an illegal shooting? It’s only the size that matters here? Seems a bit odd.
1
@heyitsanthony6366 your argument is poorly worded, if I don’t understand it, then maybe you should work on communicating it better. I make six figures in biotech and read all day, editing and correcting people’s technical writing for pharmaceutical companies. The issue is you. How much do you make?
1
@spoonypoon7998 you have no proof.
1
@spoonypoon7998 not nice how does YouTube let you post insults
1
@spoonypoon7998 YouTube has banned people for saying less. Please apologize or I will report you
1
@DuhYaThink I would call the police, who are well trained and well regulated by the government. I only trust the government to own guns and to control strictly who else, such as expert security guards, should have them.
1
@loganng5621 how much do you make a year? And where do you live?
1
@Sassytxsonia so, you think mentally insane people should not be allowed to have guns? How do you implement this policy? Also, what about people who become insane, or angry, violent, etc.? You assume that people are simple to categorize, as if someone is known insane or sane, and will stay that way forever and we’ll always know. That’s not true. Lots of normal people become murderers, without any criminal record for example. Normal people get stressed and lose their tempers, guns can be involved and it causes death. Your idea is not well thought out.
1
@LaurieLT88 the solution is to ban guns
1
@loganng5621 ridiculous notion that you’re comparing hobbyist and untrained shooters to a professional police force. If police were more like the British police too they’d be even more professional. It is the right wingers causing the problem
1
@loganng5621 you are most likely going to confirm my suspicions that you are poor and uneducated, the type who gravitates towards guns to fill a void in their life
1
@DuhYaThink how come it works well in the UK? Whole country is basically one giant gun free zone. Yet, their murder and gun-murder rates are far lower than the US
1
@loganng5621 criminals will not ignore the rules about gun control. Evidence from all other Developed countries, who have tough gun laws and lower rates of murder and gun-murder, are proof to the contrary.
1
@Jaegar19Ultima I would rather criminals use cars than guns and cars.
1
@anythinggoes5574 right to own a tool and toy should not triumph over the right to not get shot. This is why the 2nd amendment should be repealed. As well, gun control can be passed that does not violate the 2nd Amendment, meaning we could ban handguns and your 2A would not be infringed.
1
@beckyg.8228 why? Gun owners are more likely to be poor, angry, unhappy, and uneducated.
1
@deebee4575 if the Republican Party accepts evidence from all other countries then an amendment is possible, as happened in the past. It’s not impossible. Regardless, it is moot. We can ban categories of weapons like pistols and codify a ban on assault weapons without violating the 2A. People will ideally own nothing more than non-automatic hunting rifles and shotguns.
1
@loganng5621 I beg you to please read facts. the UK has lower rates of knife crimes than the US, actually. Look it up, it’s reported by American and British news like the The Independent, and sourced from each countries’ governments. This is proof the UK, and all other developed nations, have lower rates of murder than the US and more strict gun laws.
1
@Theboss-xb3cz gun owners tend to be poor and uneducated. I make six figures at age 27. I would not trust anyone who lacks the intelligence to make money, to be able to own and carry a gun. It’s too big a responsibility for these people
1
@otter1942 what about the UK? Or Japan, or Italy? These countries are giant gun free zones and they have lower murder rates than the US
1
@johnstevens72 the UK has lower stabbing rates than the US
1
@loganng5621 yes dude, the rates, which are adjusted for population, very clearly states that the UK has lower rates of knife murders than the US. It also states that the UK has tougher gun laws, and lower rates of both murder and gun-murders than the US. Face it, there’s no proof that the US’s lax gun laws save lives. The data shows the opposite, that they contribute to taking lives instead.
1
@andrefiano3182 explain yourself
1
@johnstevens72 no, the data provides rates showing that the US has higher knife murders than the UK
1
@virgilhilts3924 yes dude, the banning of drugs has worked. I am in favor of keeping hard drugs illegal because I believe that prohibiting these guns makes us all safer. The laws are imperfect, people will break the laws and use and deal. But fewer will do that than if they were legal. Same applies to gun control
1
@Sassytxsonia ok, so instead of banning guns, we lock up everybody who we think will commit gun crimes. Ever seen Minority Report with Tom Cruise? Explain to me how mental health will prevent a shooter from acting out? What are the signs? How long will you hold them? How much will this cost? What if the evidence is weak? Like if I make a Columbine joke should I be interned? How would you be able to determine that I’m now safe to be released? And how many billions of dollars will this cost? Kinda funny how you’ve lost the plot. You support gun rights as civil rights, but you’re willing to violate our more important rights to freedom and liberty, our freedom to not be ripped from our homes and dragged into a nuthouse, you’d rather the government do all that, rather than ban guns. You ma’am, are a funny person.
1
This is why it’s time to copy France and repeal the 2A. It causes too ma h problems
1
saltypureblood4063 the mall is a gun free zone because it is not safe otherwise. I would not feel safe at a grocery store or mall if everyone had guns. Guns I see as a sign of mental insecurity, fragile egos, hot tempers, and poor intelligence. Guns are not allowed because open carrying makes everything more dangerous and risks any confrontation turning deadly. Will it deter mass shooters? Maybe, but it will make the situations worse and more numerous than without.
1
@royrogers3624 what about the malls in the UK? Or Japan? They are all gun free zones. And yet, it is only America, the country with the most lax gun laws, that has mass shootings, where guns are the leading cause of deaths in children, and which has the highest rates of murder, and gun-murder, in the developed world.
1
@virgilhilts3924 all other developed countries have tougher gun laws than the the US. The US also has the highest rates of both murder, and gun-murder. This has occurred year after year for decades. This is hard proof gun control works.
