The US occupation is the best way for Afghanistan to return to its traditional government. When the Soviets left Afghanistan was split between the progressive Northern Alliance and the Taliban. Taliban controlled most of the nation and were despots, but after 9/11 the US invaded the Northern Alliance assumed control, and their legacy remains to this day. So US occupation is the best way for Afghans to guard against anarchy and a Taliban return
