  3. Let's see how effective the M-1 carbine is when you dive out of your bullet riddled truck and have to go back for it. Really the 1911 was designed for cheating in a knife fight; a roll it fulfills rather well. But I really think that to replace a pistol you need a gun you can carry like a pistol; strapped to you in a holster that doesn't get in the way all the time. And while we are making a wish list extending the shoulder stock should chamber the first round.
