  1. It is an amazing movie on a lot levels, excellent review, but you should have said more about Claude Rains, you mentioned that he was the opposite of Bogart character and that he was. Rain's character was a rouge and he balanced out Bogart's character who was an idealists. We can sense the affinity between those two characters, as opposites attract. And is just one of the many brilliant aspects of the movie and an important part of the movie. A movie this well made had magical effect on all of those who watched it and a strong subconscious influence on their thoughts about the US involvement in WW2. It definitely demonstrates the power of Hollywood.

TRUE MATRIARCHS CAN NEVER BE DETHRONED When all of Hollywood actresses are MTF transgenders like Gloria Swanson probably was, it's moot point to argue that this movie reveals our "attitude toward older women". Real women have unassailable power in society, mothers, grandmothers, and great mothers will always sit on the matriarchs throne and can never be dethroned. Every man comes from a woman, more often than not, a women is the most important person in his life and his pride and joy. Hollywood movies are an illusion, they portray life using phony people and because of this they can never portray life as it really is. First Cornthians 11:7 says,“...the woman is the glory of the man”, this is not transferable to another or not capable of being taken away or denied, it's a position of honor and she alone possesses the ability to fulfill her job as a mother, grand mother or great grand mother. God declares in Exodus 20:12; Honour thy father and thy mother: that thy days may be long upon the land which the LORD thy God giveth thee. A mother's position is not open to discussion or modification not by anybody.
