Brown the Victoria Cross, he certainly had courage and nerve like none other and was a major contributor to the Allied war effort and post war aircraft design. He was an amazing man.

  16. All the Lavi technology probably didn't go to waste and has been transitioned into other aircraft design, that makes good business sense. The Lavi prototypes look similar to the Rafale, and the F-16, but even more like the J-10 fighter.

  34.  @ImpendingJoker  ~ Israelis have loved the F-16 since it first came out and would have had knowledge of the F-16XL. They probably had access to high level information from Dassault Aviation and the Saab, fighter programs, and probably decided it was easier to buy the best equipment rather than make it. So they stopped developing the Lavi and parlayed it's engineering assets into business assets.

  39.  @DrivermanO  ~ Maybe the de Havilland DH 108 "Swallow" could be considered the enemy? It did killed Geoffrey de Havilland Jr, but Eric lived after nearly dying from the flying the Swallow, he had a lot of nerve and everybody respects that. Then again, Eric was an elite test pilot and it was his job to push the limits of aircraft envelopes, and this was routine practice throughout his career. As for the Victoria Cross being awarded to celebrities who never displayed extreme gallantry in life threatening situations, this seems more politically earned than for courageous reasons.

Dassault Mirage IIIA was by far superior fighter than the F-104. It was a better multi-role aircraft, better in dogfights and more suitable for ground attack due to larger wing area. The F-104 had a poor combat record, it wasn't used much in Vietnam, could not do close air support for ground troops, and could not maneuver or dogfight. The West Germans lost about 30% of their F-104s over the years, killing 110 pilots in the process. Not to be outdone, Canada lost 110 of their 235 CF-104s. Germany should have bought the Mirage IIIA, but was bribed to buy the F-104 (Lockheed). Canada had a great multi-role fighter that was being developed in 1958, but it was suddenly canceled and scrapped. They bought a mix of F-104's and F-101's.   55. The Corsair was an amazing fighter and looks like no other fighter of it's era. I knew an old Navy pilot who flew it in WW2 and Korea say it was the best, but that was an arguable statement.

  56.  @trob1731  ~ Heinkel made the first jet fighter, the He-280, and it flew in March 41. Unfortunately Heinkel lacked funding at critical times. But, Willy Messerschmitt got funding for the Me-262. The He-280 wasn't as advance as the Me-262, with it's swept wing design, but it would have been formidable against allied prop fighters, if it had been made operational in 42 and 43, - IMO, this all my speculation, and I might be blowing smoke, but It's interesting!

Without their support it couldn't have gone anywhere, although it had growth potential and could have been one of the greatest fighters never built.

Packard and Studebaker got military contracts during WW2, but not after and they are gone.

Before USAF replaces the A-10, they should figure out what the future of CAS is! -- The Pentagon budget is incredibly huge (Fiscal Year 2021's $705 billion) and they love to spending money for new projects, currently the A-10 is bought and paid for, it works and can be modernized, but it's cheap and it's not going to send much money to the Pentagon and their friends. This probably the reason why USAF wants phase out A-10. -- The USAF should justify a new CAS plane before they get rid of the A-10, but with the money power of the establishment, I believe they do what they want to do.

  126. I consider Finland's Winter War as part of WW2. -- Germany was the enemy of Finland's enemy the Soviet Union. Tiny Finland needed a friend, Germany, to help defend it, so they became allies. Finland fought against overwhelming odds in favor of the USSR trying to keep Red Army out of Finland, but ultimately Finland lacked the man power and resources to do so.

  129. If it looks right, it is right! -- WELL, what if it doesn't look right? Like the 10-C2, those gull wings would have obstructed the pilots forward visibility, I doubt the French would have built it, even if it had the potential to go fast.

The corporate structure of the world's governments, corporations and institutions is a great pyramid, it is shown on the back of the One Dollar Bill, under the pyramid are the words: NOVUS ORDO SECLORUM, meaning new order of the ages. At the top of the pyramid in the 'All Seeing Eye', this is the god of this world, also known as the Devil.
