  2. I consider Finland's Winter War as part of WW2. -- Germany was the enemy of Finland's enemy the Soviet Union. Tiny Finland needed a friend, Germany, to help defend it, so they became allies. Finland fought against overwhelming odds in favor of the USSR trying to keep Red Army out of Finland, but ultimately Finland lacked the man power and resources to do so.
