That's an amazing story, the crew were heroes, Captain Moody's announcement to his passengers was such a huge under statement, it's great that we can laugh about it now. -- This is the reason for having a well trained professional airline crews, the flight 009 were real pros. Excellent video.

Scully is the poster child for what a professional airline pilot should be and strive to be.

As captain your response to the technical problems shows you are responsible with positive attitude to resolve all issues with the airliner, good story.

There no substitution experience pilots!

First of all, the Captain gets the Darwin award for putting his children in the driver's seat. Secondly the automated pilot makes no decisions, it's an inanimate object, that controls as it's programed to do, it has no soul and isn't afraid to end up in a scrap pile. -- In a less automated aircraft maybe the Captain would have recognized their imminent danger sooner and saved themselves and the aircraft. So tragic and a sad an ending for all, but especially for the Captain who was probably and great pilot, that made a very bad decision. -- As Mentour says; you have follow the rules.

That MCAS killed over 300 people, I am no expert but it would seem to me If the MAX was designed right it shouldn't need MCAS?

The owners at Boeing Company wanted short term profits, they didn't want to spend money on expensive rigorous engineering that's required for quality commercial airplane development and the FAA no longer regulated them. It appears that Boeing and the US Government are both at are at fault. ~ Those who desire to be rich are tempted are trapped by their own avarice which causes disasters like the 737 MAX. They are people without conscience, no sense of right or wrong, they're amoral. For them it's "Do as thou Wilt. is the whole of the Law!", the law the the jungle or survival of the fittest and it's all for personal riches at the expense of others.

There is no substitute for an experienced captain and crew. Fantastic story.

Excellent video. -- Oh well the pilots just wanted to have fun, but that was the WRONG ATTITUDE they should have had, and tragically it cost them their lives. Kudos to the captain who managed to crash where nobody else was.

It is also helpful if the First Officer is a young strong man turning that trim wheel! Such as the First Officer in the video.

Thank you Mentour, the second pilot is a redundant safety system that's on board, that is not dependent on a ground based data link and remote piloting. The flight crew are not only concerned for the safety of their passengers, but for themselves as well, and therefore highly motivated to be safe.

For the Crew of Air France flight 4590, their time had run out and nothing could have been done to save them. -- As for us, we may boast of what tomorrow will bring; but we don't know what that day will bring. -- We should "fear Him which is able to destroy both soul and body in hell." We should live for each day for Him every day, and don't accept the lies of this world which are all around us.

@johnstedman4075 ~ You say compounding human errors sealed the fate of Flight 4590, but this video didn't reveal human error, the Concord was slightly overloaded, which in spite of that it should have preformed well, being a very well designed plane with a designed in safety factors. ~ That's why I believe for the Crew and passengers it was their fate on that day, and it had nothing to do with and an attitude of fatalism with the captain and crew. That plane became so badly damaged it couldn't be flown, and this was unforeseeable.

The best report I have heard on flight 234.. The other reports don't compare.
