@ But memorandums and treaties have to be ratified regularly and situations change . And as far as Ukraine is concerned things changed in 2014 radically. The Crimea was not invaded the Russians were already there in accordance with an agreement with the government The revolution of Dignity was a coup and thus illegal according to the UN charter . It affected Russian speakers in the Ukraine who were under threat . The responsibility to protect article 51 of the UN charter then comes into play . If you want to get legalistic you don’t have a leg to stand on. Now can we discuss the Minsk agreements which actually went through the UN?

@WellaFella Revolution is the majority overthrow a government . A coup is a minority overthrow a government. Seeing that an election was due either were a very bad idea. As we now see The Crimean situation was after the “ revolution “. And Russia was already in Crimea no need to invade
4
@WellaFella She did a lot more than hand out cookies . You should get informed. Did Ukraine get democracy ( it was already a democracy )prosperity and security ?
4
@. Usually the people sack a government by not voting for them . That’s how democracy works. For that you need elections . Which have not happened in Ukraine for five years
4
@ Actually when America instigated the 2014 Maiden that was a breach of the memorandum . The memorandum was not ratified in 2014 and was thus null and void in 2014 Memorandums are not legally binding by the way Russian actions happened “ after “ the Maiden . And the little green men were Ukrainian troops that swapped sides It was the Maiden that breached the Budapest memorandum . The situation in Crimea happened after the memorandum was already breached and null and void You have a few conspiracy theories there The friendship treaty was cancelled by Ukraine . Nothing to do with Russia . Now let’s talk about Minsk

@WellaFella Yanukovitch didn’t report for work due to fears for his life . And was sacked for being absent . Does that sound like a legitimate reason for his dismissal ? lol Whatever happened in Crimea was triggered by what happened in Kiev earlier . You can call it a revolution if you wish . But it turned out to be a very bad idea
3
@WellaFella Ukraine was already a democracy Yanakovich was a democratically elected leader . 😁.
3
@WellaFella Did Ukraine get democracy , prosperity and security ?
3
@WellaFella Trump and Putin will now decide what happens to Ukraine
3
@ . Zelenskis term ran out in May of 2024 he was supposed to hand over power to the Ukraine parliament or hold an election according to the Ukrainian constitution. He did neither Ukraine was a democracy at the time of the “ revolution “ ( coup ) . Any government coming to power by way of a “ revolution “ ( coup) is illegal according to the UN Charter . Russia has elections and chooses its leader democratically Now can we discuss Minsk?
3
What makes Putin a monster . The fact that he works for the interests of his own country and not America ? He has far less blood on his hands than any western leader
3
@douglasbroccone3144 It was America who breached the Budapest memorandum in 2014 when they ignored the sovereignty of Ukraine and staged a coup . The memorandum was not ratified in 2014 and was null and void in 2022. Memorandums are also not legally binding . It is you who needs to learn about the memorandum
2
@bilson7523 They were not Ukraine nukes they were deployed in Ukraine by the soviets . When the Soviet Union collapsed the ownership passed on to Russia . The nuclear codes have always been in Moscow not Kiev
2
@ In democracies you do not ban opposition parties , ban opposition media and freedom of speech According to Angela Merkel the Minsk agreement was signed by Ukraine purely to buy time so they could rearm . Hardly a sign they meant to abide by it . And they did not abide by it and now pay the price Putin invaded Ukraine to protect the Russian speakers in the Donbass who were under threat from the Ukraine army This was after those regions had held referendums to become independent . Then they voted again to join the Russian federation All legal according to Russian law and the UN charter
2
@ if you listen to the Angela Merkel interview she admits the Minsk agreement was a rue by Ukraine and the west to buy time so Ukraine could rearm . Hardly a genuine commitment by Ukraine . The Donbass region was firstly independent by the separatists then they asked Russia for help against the Ukraine army . That was the main reason for the invasion You must realise that the SMO is a limited operation by Russia not a full scale war . Total war would be much different Russia has taken the slow attritional strategy to limit casualties especially civilian . They will clear the four regions eventually . They are in no rush Russia just had elections it is not a dictatorship . I suppose you have a conspiracy theory about the election being rigged ? Evidence please
2
@WellaFella The Russians were not in Bucha at the time . Documented
2
@ When there was an election scheduled in weeks whatever it was it a very bad idea . Nuland admitted her involvement and the state departments involvement . How do invade a place without firing a shot The Russian speakers begged for Russias help . And Russia responded As I said you can call it what you like it has been a disaster for Ukraine Sometimes in war you have to fight in your own territory.
1
@ They dismissed him because he was absent . He was absent because his life was under threat . Putin came to power because he was picked to replace Yeltsin by Yeltsin . And then he won an election You don’t even know what a coup is What happened in Crimea happened after the “ revolution “ . The “ revolution “ was the trigger for Russian action
1
@WellaFella The will of the people was to join the Russian federation . It was Ukraine who breached Minsk and then tore up the Istanbul agreement. Two very bad ideas
1
@ The Americans had elections in Iraq and Kosova during wars . Why is this any different ? And the breakaway regions were not part of Ukraine at the time . They had declared independence . And they had invited the Russians in
1
@ Russia had left the area in Bucha days before the bodies were found . So they couldn’t have done it . And they had victims wore yellow arm bands a sign they were pro Russian . I suggest you research the Minsk agreement. No advantage for Russia not to abide by it . And listen to Angela Merkels revelation about Minsk . It destroys your argument Istanbul was initialed and ready to be signed . Both sides were happy with it Ukraine got to keep all of its land apart from Crimea . A better situation for them than now don’t you agree ?
1
@WellaFella The Istanbul agreement had been initialed and was ready to be signed . Both sides were happy with it . If Ukraine had signed it there position would be far better than it is now
