  2. @johnqpublic4012 I respect your opinion, but if something is done to a extreme then no amount of justification can be given. A young couple need the support and love from both sides of families to thrive. Forcing one side of the family into massive debts or basically coming up with crazy demands can't be justified in the name of tradition...

  4. @bensantos3882 robbery is robbery my friend, you can classify it as whatever... if done in Indian subcontinent it's dowry, but if done in China by the opposite side then it's not dowry is it... how about women proving her sincerity :D

  5. @bensantos3882 I agree mostly with you, if she is having psychological issues they should have been upfront about it. The groom and his family would have known what they were in for. But also I don't believe the system is better than the West, because it's basically a bubble that's going to take down the entire society. It's exactly like the housing bubble. They expect the groom to go into deep debts by buying house, car, grand wedding, bridal price/ dowry, gifts and even have a huge savings in the bank. Only 1% of the population in any country can have all or even some of what is mentioned above, remaining 99% will have to take loans... Does life end after marriage ? It's just the beginning... If a person is going to start their marriage with huge debts, well with all the additional cost after marriage people are naturally going to stop having kids... Many are also going to stop getting married... All this is going to contribute to further downfall of young population and going to contribute in a vicious cycle of downward economic spiral... All due to greed, in the guise of tradition... All this nonsense needs to end for a better future or else there is bound to be misery ahead.
