@alexanderwhite298 The definition he gave of religion is a commonly used definition by many people with criteria needing to be met in order for something to be considered a religion. The reason people left the farms to the factories is because by the industrial revolution agriculture had become so productive that it required less labor thus if people wanted to keep earning money they would have to work in the cities. Furthermore, industry was in many ways less terrible than working in agriculture, that while people did have more freedom, the work they did was much more labor intensive. Also the dust bowl and the rise of agribusiness was decades to a hundred years later
