There is a difference between a Wago style connection and a backstabbed connection. In the Wago or push in connector, the deflected spring metal is roughly parallel to the wire and the bus behind it. The tension is perpendicular or downward on the wire. Backstabbing is the opposite, the deflected spring is roughly perpendicular to the wire, and the tension is parallel to a large degree. Much of the tension is directed to the wire entry opening and not down on the wire. It makes a difference in contact effectiveness. The other thing is that the primary connection on receptacle is by using the screws, and backstabbing is quick selling point feature with minimal design effort. In the wago style the spring tension is the only option, so the reputation demands a well thought out design. The fact that backstabbing can on be used on 15 amp circuits, concedes it's limitations. Wago styles are acceptable for 20 amps and the larger Wago lever nut (221-6xx) are designed for 30 amps and 10 gauge wire.
