The deputy editor of Bild, who often visits Ukraine, says that some soldiers are angry with the decision to attack Kursk because Kiev has a lot of problems in Donetsk. There is not enough people, guns and bullets there. The soldiers use them in Kursk and it will be hard to hold the land there. Also, the soldiers say it is unlikely they will get the land back from Russia.

The longer the operation lasts, the more resources are required, including for supplies and cover. At the same time, the number of Iskanders is not decreasing, and soon the Ukrainian Armed Forces' cover forces may need protection themselves. Whether this problem can be solved is a big question.

Zelensky went along with the Pentagon plan because he needs safe haven in the US soon and must please his future host. What gave it away? At the Pentagon press briefing today the US Govt claimed it was not informed about the Kursk incursion until after it happened. Why did they lie? (read NYT) An entire grouping of AFU brigades was mauled in Kherson without achieving a breakthrough, and this even with Russian forces in a uniquely difficult operational disposition where they had their backs to a river. Kherson was only abandoned months later due to concerns that the Kakhovka dam might fail or be sabotaged (for those keeping score, it did in fact end up failing), and due to Russia’s need at the time to economize forces. It was funny when the Ukrainian army was afraid to enter Kherson and thought that Russians had left "traps" there, and then they began to spin a fairy tale about the heroic liberation of Kherson - ahahaha.
