Sorry, but the donkeys were the politicians who made the decision for war, but the generals were mostly clueless and not Fit for Reality in any case, too. But, IWMs are committed to defending the establishment. Funny how you whine Haig was attacked, but don't really provide any convincing evidence that they weren't, but you set the table backwards.

Jellicoe won it after Beatty tried to lose it, regardless of how people try to buff the incompetent, Good Ole Boy of Beatty. BTW, I note Beatty is the Poster Child for you video, which gets an automatic down vote.

Thought the 262 sweepback was for mainly CoG concerns because BMW could not deliver even mockups of the proposed power plants?!

Britain defense OUTLASTED the Argentinian offense, which had to travel over long distances to attack point targets with almost unsuitable planes. BTW, where do you discuss the intelligence that is STILL classified that the US funneled to the UK?

Why wasn't it sold overseas for a profit, then?

Heavy cost? The RN pretty much repaired most ships AND suffered no real diminution of the REAL line of battle throw weight, with a resulting SEALING the blockade by the huge losses of the High Seas Fleet and the Royal Idiot Willy's decision to keep the fleet in port as a bargaining chip for most of the rest of the war. By the end of the war, the RN was completely supreme, showing the planners and constructors had chosen the right strategy. The REAL threat was the U-boat fleet, not the surface forces.

Why do seaplane characteristics have anything to do with a long range heavy bomber? That's is why you need to cover instead of just dropping that senseless assertion. The Catalina ALSO had a miserable control system that was notoriously HEAVY in the best of circumstances. The B-24 with a high wing gives the advantage of easy bomb loading, but a seaplane NEVER cuts a bomb bay into the fuselage like that, too! Also, the Norden bombsight never lived up to it's hype, so it was just a more delicate/harder to fly plane that could cram more bombs and range to kill people in carpet bombing and crews at an alarming rate.

If you don't have access to the all the intel the US passed to Ding Dong the Witch is Dead Thatcher, you have NO real reason to pontificate.

It did it's job, but was not a particularly good plane from what I've read, from flying it to speed to actually doing any real damage or defending itself. As a comedian once said of why he took away your girlfriend while you were busy at the gym, "I'm not better than you, but I was THERE!"
