  1. Why do seaplane characteristics have anything to do with a long range heavy bomber? That's is why you need to cover instead of just dropping that senseless assertion. The Catalina ALSO had a miserable control system that was notoriously HEAVY in the best of circumstances. The B-24 with a high wing gives the advantage of easy bomb loading, but a seaplane NEVER cuts a bomb bay into the fuselage like that, too! Also, the Norden bombsight never lived up to it's hype, so it was just a more delicate/harder to fly plane that could cram more bombs and range to kill people in carpet bombing and crews at an alarming rate.
