The ACCIDENT SHOULD NEVER HAVE HAPPENED!
Stop blowing offgas up people's rear; this was a failure of training, operations, and maintenance, or, in other words, a FAILURE OF THE ENTIRE OPERATIONAL PHASE OF THE PLANT'S LIFECYCLE!!
What happened is a bunch of cheapskates in management bought a badly designed Unit 2, and the operations crew screwed up the recovery with bad operation practices and bad knowledge of the tech involved.
It also killed the nuclear industry in the US.
BTW, take off your blinders and report it for what it was. It was only EVENTUALLY harmless to the community, but ruinous to the ratepayers and the people who relied on the utility to do it right, and not turn the core into a rubble bed.
TMI1 was a well designed plant and functioned many decades after this.
But, YOUR revisionism is jejune and mere useless clickbait. You weren't there, you don't know; I worked with people who were on the B&W design team, and this was known and just not mentioned, officially.
