I've bought all of them, and you owe Aldi/Lidl apologies. Hershey's is barely the Yugo of the Chocolate world. The only fond memory I have of Hershey is when they used to take you on a REAL factory tour and you got to stand there an steep yourself in the aroma of 100+ aerating machines all working ..., before Hershey's 'blended' it to their abysmally cheap 'secret formula'. They don't give those tours, anymore.

It tastes that way because they use the cheapest formulations, too. Lived in a city that Hershey bought the local 'middle-sized' chocolate factory (the old 5th Avenue people) and the taste and quality went down immediately Hershey started to 'integrate' the new product line. See what Hershey did to the superior Joseph Schmidt Truffle Line they bought out, too. Hershey's is 'Murican Bidness As Usual, "Better is the Enemy of Good/Cheap Enough".

Sorry, but how can adding butyric acid be considered IN ANY WAY a good thing? I lived around Hershey's and other 'Murican chocolate, before having my first taste of European and even UK chocolate, and I wouldn't try to poison even a rabid dog with Herhsey's. The only UK chocolate I bother with is the milk chocolate atop a Hobnob or a slice from a Terry's Chocolate Orange.

Hershey's: The source of Pratchett's quip "Ankh-Morpork chocolate was formally classed as “cheese” and only escaped, through being the wrong color, being defined as 'tile grout.'"

Hint on UK and US chocolate: "Ankh-Morpork chocolate was formally classed as “cheese” and only escaped, through being the wrong color, being defined as 'tile grout.'" Substitute UK and US for Ankh-Morpork.
