  1. I am continually hearing tales from the Exercise Walkers in the subdivision of how people are feeding multiple cats because people just pack up and leave 3 and more. We took over for a cat whose owner ASKED us to look after her and offered to pay medical fees. That was an outdoor cat, mostly, and we had no issues with doing more than our fair share because the previous owner tried to make arrangements. Also, have a relative that left money in a will to take care of a dog they left behind when they died. As Granny Aching observed, "We are as gods to the beasts of the field.", and the same goes for any pets you've supported and enjoyed in the good times.
