The AA had badly designed directors that were hard to keep calibrated and provide the required accurate/precision inputs to the overall system (especially the flawed use of a level surface that could not be guaranteed level and which had poor azimuth sensors), the heavy AA mounts had issues with electrical systems that sorted out repeatedly in wet weather, the light had miserable reach and not real direction. The crew was badly rested and less that effective. Sorry, these issues are documented in many sources and are well known.
