  1. B-17 did 'middling-to-heavy" lifting, BUT, it didn't do the EFFECTIVE LIFTING when you figure in DEATHS ... Funny how the RN did the same kind of Penny Wise/Pound Foolish when it came to effective ships vs Cheapskates on dry docks, etc. That includes Scapa Flow in WWI, too.

  3. Building the MB.5 would have just kept the UK in the NON-jet marketplace. Which would the UK want, the capacity to go forward, to crawl slowly in place? The reports from testers sound just like Sweetheart Deals from testers and people who weren't slated to 'go jet production'.
