  1. B-17 did 'middling-to-heavy" lifting, BUT, it didn't do the EFFECTIVE LIFTING when you figure in DEATHS ... Funny how the RN did the same kind of Penny Wise/Pound Foolish when it came to effective ships vs Cheapskates on dry docks, etc. That includes Scapa Flow in WWI, too.
