Apples vs Oranges F4 was initially Fleet defense and attack, Mig21 was purely interception. USAF was forced to adopt it for economics. The fact there was a difference between F4 and Mig21 was remedied by the USAF developing an air superiority plane, the F15, and the USN developing a follow on to the F4 in the F14. You are arguing as if the F4 was the DESIRED DOCTRINE of both, when it was actually FORCED on one. And, lets talk the doctrine used by the US in the restrictions on bomber targets, BVR weapons, and any campaigns to gain and maintain Air Superiority in a POLITICALLY-RESTRICTED environment.

1. It doesn't matter if the Ju-87 was designed to destroy bridges IF IN PRACTICE IT COULD NOT DO SO. Didn't Udet have this as part of the Contract Testing?! 2. It doesn't matter if the Ju-87 'hits' a bridge if the FUSE is not appropriate 3. Define 'destroy'. Failure in civilian use is not the same a failure in war use. 4. Calculate the total area of possible impact on 100 meter radius uncertainty in impact!!! If the bombs can be 'guided' to fall in a 'square', why didn't anybody else figure that out? ICBMs use CEP, SEP. I don't see how this is any surprise.

This was just a fighter which would never have seen the light of day except for porkbarrel politics and wetting-their-pants World War II military spending excesses. A complete dead end bouyed by war spending, as evinced by it NEVER being employed seriously by the US. Lipstick On A PIG.

Gripen is good for a country that wants to deter, but not actually win, a Total War against an enemy that is 'just across the border'. But, keep those chest-thumping posts coming for the click bait.

Mosquito, because it could EMBARRASS THE CROOKS AT THE TOP OF THE LUFTWAFFE FOOD CHAIN! Nothing to do with any war-winning capability, except it could get people sent to The Eastern Front.

@Zelectrocutica Yeah, huge success IF you can believe the 'claims' by the pilots. LaserPig has a good review of general ground attack 'exuberance' in the claims area in his discussion of the A-10 as a really useless plane, q.v.

So, exactly WHY the clickbait "The Ugly Truth" when you ADMIT the 0.5 is as good because It's Here, Now Factor? You know, unlike the German lets keep futzing around to find the Ultimate AND keep ourselves off the Eastern Front?!

Your talking about people who were trained to a very specific doctrine of aerobatic combat who were flying one designed to a completely different doctrine?!

DOCTRINE Germany was a foe who turned a series of TACTICAL, SHORT WARS into a War of ATTRITION by attacking Russia. Their equipment was based on one doctrine and could not be changed to fight the other because of CORRUPTION, INCOMPETENCE, and BLIND OBEDIENCE TO A BAD DOCTRINE. Blitzkrieg, going back to Frederick the Great, means fight short wars Germany could afford AND possibly win using aggressive maneuver at the Operational level ..., especially when assisted by using crystal meth for that ubermensch feeling.

Parallel timelines in print FOR THE WIN!! Watched entire WWII Day-by-Day, and even withe the U-boat sinking padding the episodes, the knowledge there was eye opening, especially The Final Solution inclusion and their early war timimg!!

It's probably not a square, it's probably a CIRCULAR ERROR PROBABILITY. That give 31,000 square meters. Square doesn't make sense as bombs do not 'miss' in a box-shaped probability, do they?!
1
@williamzk9083 Why would bombs 'miss' in a square pattern?! Seems to me if the 'standard' was stated as like that, such 'inadequate' thinking would lead to a lot of other strange ideas about 'success', too.
