All I would say is the engineering over a 30 year to 50 year span will never make it without MASSIVE redundancy and spare parts, not to mention the general maintenance and the retention of skills and knowledge ..., not to mention the sustaining of the 'give a sh*t' attitude by the people on the ship over that time with the random culling of those skills and knowledge by 'stochastic' premature death. Or, let's talk discovering 10 years out that someone sold subspec gaskets/seals or didn't include a 60 year shelf life when the engines' performance isn't what was expected. It will take decades just to do the risk analysis to keep this from being a death ride for the 'passengers'.
