Was it a physicist with: "A comrade asked a [physicist] 'If two trains 120 miles apart approaced each other at 30mph, and a crow flew from one to the other at 20mph, how far will the crow fly before the trains meet?' The [physicist] stopped, thought about it, and said, '40 miles' as his answer. The comrade said, 'Oh, I see you used the simple solution!' and the [physicist] replied, "There's a simple solution?!'" I'm kinda thinking it might have been von Neumann I heard being used, though.

  2. I had and AEC lecture come by my school, and they left one small booklet on High Energy Physics. It talked about spin and the like, and even though I could grasp the "Lasers and Masers" book in the library, I've ever since been terminally confused by electron 'spin'. I actually noted I wanted to be a High Energy Physicist in my High School Yearbook because of that booklet, but the journalism weenies shortened that to just Physicist, which really is not the same.
