  2. I'd bet the people who say these things are not people who sit down and read just the abstracts in Science magazine every week. I'm talking about NON-Professionals, too! Of course, controlled nuclear fusion will continue being "One Grad School Career" away for the next 50 years ... And, as to lasers, it's also the emergence of solid state lasers which are a melding of so much science that drives the fiber optic industry, too! My sister got a souvenir blue LED flashlight for her support of that competitive program that went around the World. For me, I'd just be satisfied with THE explanation WHY Inflation happened instead of being told it DID, now I'll be quiet.
