Your pessimism about Frodo is quite in line with people who think Ofelia actually died at the end of Pan's Labyrinth or Sam Lowry was NOT rescued at the end of Brazil! In the spirit of the scouring, WWII vets did the same to the 1%er WAR PROFITEERS and the other Upper Class Parasites. Unfortunately, that lesson and those in-your-face kind of actions have decayed away in the US, where the 1%ers have once again bought their way to power. Maybe the 99%ers and WEALTH CREATORS will once again DEMAND THEIR PLACES AT THE TABLE?! Quite frankly, that WWII story could EASILY have happened in slightly different form, probably several grenades. Gerrnans are on record for POW massacres, and other armies are not so different. That's why my relatives from WWII service really don't want to talk about it, I sure.

Think of all the time for REAL story telling if the Little Boy Fight Scenes were cut by half? The Scouring of the Shire could easily have been included. IF Jackson was a better story teller ..., IF the screen writers were not shackled to Cowboys and Indians in Middle Earth 'Killing Things' action movie tropes by the money-bags, parasitic producers. I'd have rather had a 24 episode REAL Netflix series than the drivel Jackson spewed. You don't HAVE to make a movie, especially one that trashes so much of The Original. I have completely gone off the simplistic form of 'movies' for the depth of limited subject series. BTW, if a Ring Bearer shows up at the Grey Havens, do you not think the Elves in Valinor would not have known and had a boat waiting? Do you think Biden did not have an Air Force One ready to take him 'home' after Convicted Felon Trump was sworn in??

Too bad you're too young to experience the joy of finding "Frodo Lives!" on graffiti walls like back when LOTR first became really big in the US. I wonder what it was in Tolkien's life that led him to write about Frodo's failure when the time came?

It's Pratchett's Narativium at work. The story's course is somewhat determined beforehand, but the details and the shade and colours of the characters are there for exploring and developing. The Hamilton of Morrison's History of the American People is NOT the same Hamilton of "Hamilton".
