The UK built for a NATO role, not a UKIP protect our fishing boats ..., who SOLD their quotas willingly to the EU before they started whining how they were cheated out of their fishing rights. You can STILL use these ships to carry drones, etc., and actually go places and do things, like protect and intimidate Russian ships and ghost fleets up to the point of a more open conflict with Russia that contends "Minehead is historically a part of Greater Russia". These are relics of a plan that started FAR before drones became the Wonder Weapon of Comic Book Admirals ..., look at the build times and the aircraft development times. These project power IN THE EUROPEAN THEATRE, TOO, in company with other NATO forces.. Do you think Russia will ever be intimidated with a bunch of drone ships that can't operate in North Atlantic, or even North Sea conditions, guarded by glorified coastal patrol vessels?

  2.  @sean9446  ISTR the UK has a real issue with THE UNEMPLOYABLE. Perhaps it needs to deal with that problem along with the manning problem?

  4. Except it ISN'T because a US carrier task force, complete with SSNs and and entire logistics train can operate anywhere in the World ..., and then hand-off to its RELIEF US carrier task force of the same composition and logistics train.
