I helped build 3 in the 70s that were YEARS behind and hundreds of millions over budget and situated in an area with a mushrooming population. Oh, and two were on a river that had flow decreases in the summer so they had to cut power ..., all because the project save tens of millions not having to build a new transmission line for them. Guess who has to pick up the $$$$ for the power they have to 'import' because of that screwup?
Oh, oh, and because the utility on two of them ignored their OTHER units, those units got shut down by the NRC for general incompetence and arrogance to regulators. How much more money do you think that utility incompetence cost the rate payers? We'll not discuss their horrendous waste handling practices and the like.
All of this was in a era where a huge talent pool of nuclear construction was present, and YET they couldn't get my 3 plants finished near time and budget NOR could the 2 Georgia Power plants get finished on time or budget, but needed an emergency flare to the industry to dig them out of their hole.
NOW, guess which utility considered itself qualified to build the nuke vendor's LATEST, GREATEST, FASTEST, SHINIEST PLANTS, yet they STILL went $Billiond and many year OVER?!
If you don't have the experience, the industry and the people who got their golden retirements from it will snow you every time with lies, promises, and marketing.

The overruns and slipped schedules will be AT LEAST as bad because, just like every project I've been involved with from nuke plants to smaller ones, the vendors will lie about costs, the what-used-to-be-called AE (architect/engineer) group doing the integration design, the engineers and techs on the site, the craft on the site, and anyone else involved will STILL have the tacit desire to LIE THEIR BUTTS OFF to ensure a long gravy train throughout the entire process. And, I'm talking about Lies of Commission and Lies of Omission.
In case I hear the ole "but why would they lie and jeopardize the project?!?!", I point to VW and the diesel HIGH CRIME, ENRON and it's idiocy, and Siemens and their HUGE bribery scandals. I can include any number of incompetent/looking out for their paycheck US nuclear projects and equipment vendors/AE Firms, too.

Another example why English-only speakers know so little about the greatness of Napoleon as a military leader, but instead continually get bombarded by UK declarations of Nelson and Trafalgar being the deciding 'moment'.
Nelson fought basically one battle, had a better navy fighting an inferior foe, and overcame it using a tactic that would have led to destruction if used against an even marginally competent foe. Napoleon won the battle of Ulm, captured Vienna, and then finally defeated a far larger, better supplied, better rested foe using tactics that regardless kept the victory uncertain until late, and after fighting between far better matched quantity vs. quality. All covered as mere anecdotes in this documentary.
Napoleon's amazing grasp of time vs. distance on a the campaign and the battle are given short shrift, and you hear nothing from the diaries of the Frence about what happened. That's not even mentioning the ways Napoleon had his bases of supply already plotted in case of no clear cut victory and how his use of Davout's precipitous PLANNED arrival helped to set the trap and hold the prey in place.
VERY disappointing. If you can't make a good documentary, just don't do it at all.
This all reminds me of the Monty Python "How to play the flute" and "How to make World Peace" skit in it's shallowness.

I thought Roots was really pretty hokey, but also was raised and educated to know that SLAVERY WAS WRONG. I never doubted the EVIL that was American Slavery. In anecdotal form, I was in the part of our high school marching band who objected to having the Confederate Battle Flag put in the colour guard ..., especially when it was done just to win trophies in parades in the Lil Ole South. The high school was actually FIRMLY in the Union North, and people like myself had all sorts of Civil War artifacts in the family, like the tintype I still have of an ancestor who allegedly died in Andersonville prison camp. I secretly cheered when the Daughters of the Grand Army of the Republic got the school board to ban the flag, but a lot of people, including band members and their loud-mouthed 'Band-Aid' parents, were sore that they couldn't fly it. I also saw my first Klan Parade in that same city, as a child.
That being said, I ALSO was in a blue-collar family and blue-collar bosses of part-time jobs. THEY DESPISED ROOTS, mostly, from what I could sense, because it wasn't about White Men fighting the war, but was on commercial TV as a unavoidable reminder of why the war was legitimate and justified.

Just a TWO BIT, HICKSVILLE NEPO PRICESS sucking up to the BIG TOWN NEPO SNOWFLAKE IN ORANGE ..., who is much richer ..., for the moment ...
BTW, mtg, I HAVE contacted my Seantors, Ossoff and Warnock, whom I helped finance AND voted for. I tole them what a great job they did on Jan 6.
They're ALSO from GA, just the part that has educational standards higher than your Left Behind, racist hometown, and one's even a preacher man.

The ACCIDENT SHOULD NEVER HAVE HAPPENED!
Stop blowing offgas up people's rear; this was a failure of training, operations, and maintenance, or, in other words, a FAILURE OF THE ENTIRE OPERATIONAL PHASE OF THE PLANT'S LIFECYCLE!!
What happened is a bunch of cheapskates in management bought a badly designed Unit 2, and the operations crew screwed up the recovery with bad operation practices and bad knowledge of the tech involved.
It also killed the nuclear industry in the US.
BTW, take off your blinders and report it for what it was. It was only EVENTUALLY harmless to the community, but ruinous to the ratepayers and the people who relied on the utility to do it right, and not turn the core into a rubble bed.
TMI1 was a well designed plant and functioned many decades after this.
But, YOUR revisionism is jejune and mere useless clickbait. You weren't there, you don't know; I worked with people who were on the B&W design team, and this was known and just not mentioned, officially.

From your opening gambit, one F-16 can kill multiple Bradleys AND kill the far more valuable infantry inside. That is why F-16s denying Russia air superiority are so important.
The carnage in the Russian tank forces came from abysmally BAD employment and tactics and logistics support, especially in the support of killing the opposing pick-up infantry groups at the beginning. The penetration columns and tanks were left stationary AND out in the open on single line of advances as was part of the Russian strategy of striking quickly and deeply. Unfortunately neither the forces nor the logistics were able to pull off those operations.
To say a 'heavy' MBT is obsolete is easy, until the context changes and the actual battlefield CAN be dominated by such armored formations who operate under protection from supporting forces, aviation, ground, and artillery.
To say they have to become 'lighter' you need to show you have reasonably gamed the scenarios and battlefields that are ranked for 'possible/probable'. I REALLY don't see that in your mere review of 'incidents'.
The plural of Anedcote is STILL NOT Data.
This is the same kind of argument used to give the USN the utter FAIL of 'littoral combat ships', and I am so far content to trust the current mix until the actual battlefield is rendered completely 'dead' because of autonomous drones and the like.
BTW, those 'light' tanks are for very special uses in the US Army, and have real issues like lethality and ammunition supply for the airborne/light forces roles they will support. They are not meant to be the main force, and do not have the sustained strength. There are plenty of YouTube videos that discuss especially the US interest and use.
BTW, BTW, what are your professional credentials in the area of military analysis? This seems like a Popular Mechanics meets History Channel level of understanding.

"Gimp Fight!, Gimp Fight!, Gimp Fight! ..."
The gimp masks are ON, People!!
BTW, I'm confused ..., why are $$$$ going to an unreliable Israel which is run by religious cults and which is confronting a situation of human rights abuses Israel created, while $$$$ should not be going to Ukraine to directly confront an outside invasion by new cold war foe Russia?
BTW, BTW, how can SHE, as a privileged White Blimbo, have ANY USEFUL INSIGHT into minority unemployment in a state that flipped from Dem to GOP ONLY because the racist, bigoted 'Publicans like her got booted by the Dems?! Anecdotes are not data, but she can't count high enough to use 'data' ..., unless it's for possible insider trading from her committee memberships?

Let Poland be the SOLE update. The 'experts' and 'engineers' are either INCOMPETENT and/or ECONOMICALLY ILLITERATE and/or ...
... SNIFFING OUT A PAYCHECK ... as they have REPEATEDLY DEMONSTRATED OVER MORE THAN 50 YEARS!
AND, GE?! They are the same who designed that execrable containment on their FIRST TRY of the BIG BWRs at Fukushima, too!! That containment was a running sore in the nuclear industry for DECADES with structural flaws and the like.
The US DOE has just CANCELLED an SMR installation, and I don't see ANY small utility being able to support or sustain INTEREST to support the infrastructure for nuclear power, technically and regulatory ..., even with the NRC trying to crawl to their RETIREMENT with JUST ONE MORE series of regulatory jobs.
Small Modular Reactors (spit) will be 'economical' just like the B/S 'advanced reactors' were 'economical' in the US ..., until NOBODY COULD AFFORD THEM except some poor fools here in Georgia. Even the Good Ole Boy ethical cesspit of South Carolina CANCELLED the reactors.
SMRs are just another B/S 'Murican PR and MARKETING Campaign by people who can't make a buck elsewhere.
Nuclear power is back wherever the NUCLEAR POWER INDUSTRY AND LOBBY ARE STRONGEST AND $$$$.
If you haven't worked IN THE INDUSTRY, you really need to get some 'expert' opinions from people who have the inside info on this that is not particularly 'bright and shiny'. The tech is nifty, but the continued support required and the need to maintain small groups of expert knowledge have ALWAYS been an albatross around utilities' necks. Let's finally put a stake in the heart of the Admiral Rickover Zombie.
You do an excellent, unsurpassed job on Real Science, why don't you practice some of the 'attempted falsification' that makes Real Science so robust by focusing it on this Big Business tech ghoul?! The OLD units may have been mistakenly removed from service, BUT THAT IS NO REASON TO SEW ANOTHER CROP OF NUCLEAR DRAGONS' TEETH TO POISON THE FUTURE!!

If Air Products, with their vast experience in creating, handing, and transporting industrial gasses, isn't in with a product in The Empire of Vulture Capitalism that is the state of Texas, then it's time to bail by everyone except people with huge egos and big pockets (European companies with massive government subsidies?).
Oh look, your later reporting sorta bears that out!
I'd say the BIG Problem is a lot of cheap INVESTMENT $$$$ looking for a place to go, but all the GOOD, PRUDENT investments have been taken for years. The investment firms gotta make their service fees SOMEHOW!
The BIG, BIG Problem is were at the end of an economic cycle and INNOVATION IS DYING before the start of the next cycle; INNOVATION drives the cycles, and this is a great predictor of the end of the recent past's fairly stable growth period.

He sounds like the people I knew (not me, no, NOT ME) who didn't want to do the homework to get a correct answer in either his math or applied-physics classes, and felt insulted when his professors graded his work appropriately. I have been trained that answers with uncertainty calcs, as appropriate, are really necessary.
I'd suggest he be required to furnish appropriate theory-based uncertainty calculations to show his work is actually useful instead of assigning a 'ghost in the math' hypothesis. You know, asserting that it's QM level effects in the brain cells that 'create' consciousness, which conveniently side steps having to be the systemic analysis of neural networks.
WOW, you actually ended up in the same place I did!! Wrote that Penrose allusion before you got to it in your presenta6tion, so in terms of local time and variables, so I claim local credit for it! Unless you were psychically willing me to converge on your conclusion?! That would be Evil ..., Pure EEEEVILLL!

The Lunchroom Boys/Good Ole White Boys in the Maintenance Department I have to rely on are all the clueless bigots you describe, but they think their Jeezus Cult membership exdcuses them from being good humans and citizens ..., along with using their brains and THINKIN' FER THEMSELVES. They'd rather be out killing All God's Critters or cheering CTE Kollege Futball cuz "Tradition!" instead of doing anything to improve their life, you know. like actually attendig a college course. They also l,ove them some 'buying salvation' with spending big bucks going on Church Mission Trips to COVERT THE HEATHEN CATHOLICS in Central/South America when the money they waste going and preaching at people would get much more doctoring done if it were spent on what the PEOPLE ACTUALLY NEEDED?
What you say is only ill-informed because you don't go far enough in exposing their outrageous, self-serving idiocy, and their status as UTTER TOOLS TO THE GOP, PARASITIC PREACHERS, AND, EVENTUALLY, THE US 1%ERS.
The good news is their kids ARE attendding higher education and experiencing people other than the redneck crowd they grew up in.
The bad news is we will be old or dead before their bigoted parents die off ..., and WE will have to hold the line until then.
[Please excuse spelling and such, I've got an old family pet sleeping on my one arm]

As a life-long Republican, Thomas was a COMPLETE EMBARRASSMENT to me when he was names as the House Token by the Reagan Admin, and as a PUNISHMENT for the Nation for rejecting the equally repugnant Bork.
He's bigoted, ignorant, venal, and incompetent. But, he shows that even a bigoted, ignorant, venal and incompetent minority can pollute the SCOTUS, like so many Good Ole White Boys, including Ole Justice Taney.

Somehow, your humour seems a little too dry if you read and seemed to enjoy the entirety of Atlas Shrugged as a satire of capitalism/The American Bidnessman.
I had trouble getting through the end of Catch-22, especially the descent into 'Hades' ..., and I really like Catch-22 as one of the best satires out there. I got challenged to read it when I was in my freshman Satire 101 liberal elective, and the professor asked me a question about the required reading, Catch-22; she left out a burst of laughter in front of the entire class and noted, "That was the most blank stare I have EVER seen!". I went back and actually read the book, and now, actually-actually, have my own 1st edition, in vengeance on Buddhist Karma for that moment! Never challenge a somewhat competent engineer!

How many multi-department/organization projects have you been involved with that use software to control an electronic and electro-mechanical devices?
Having everything in-house eliminates HUGE problems with coordinating software changes and compatibility among several independent corporations, leaving only the in-house problems, which STILL make life exciting.
So, what projects HAVE you been a part of. I am the system engineer for a large computer driven system that controls electronic and electro-mechanical devices in the overall instrument system. it includes the Windows operating system, an industry-specific and customized electronic application, and a PLC driven by that industry-specific application to run the electro-mechanical devices. It all operates under a strict software QA program to control configuration and changes.
I can EASILY see why GM wants to keep it all in-house so vendors like Google and Apple don't 'tweak' their systems for other car manufacturers or just decide, by their own metrics, to shut down the house, like Microsoft has done so many times before in certain product lines. My system was developed to run on Windows 7, but when MS decided to stop supporting it, there were NO END of $$$$ I had to spend to keep my installation up and running, in a safe and secure environment. This is they SAME sort of issue that would crop up every 2 to 3 years for Android and every 5 years or so for Apple devices.
Or, are you going to be made God of Car OSs and control all of the issues arising from Google and Android 'breaking' cars just because THEY need to 'innovate' to drive upgrades, while the car manufacturers are upset because now they have to support 'outdated' OSs hooks/apis along with the Bigger, Faster, Newer ones that provide little to no value for 95% of drivers? Are you going to be the person who decides who can and can't buy cars based solely on what cell phone they own, maybe tattooing it on their wrist for ease of identification?
That's MY anecdote, what is yours?

Well, as recent articles have said, the GOP He-Men who will jump on this, claiming they eat the Mexican Food dripping in ghost peppers, are not really eating normal Mexican Food, but really just White US Booboisie parodies of Mexican food.
I've on more than on occasion made takeout orders to the local Indian carry-away with the phrase "White Man Hot", which means I get all the flavour and none of the unnecessary hurt. On the other hand I've got Curry, Channa/Garam/Tikka/Sambar/Tandoori Masala that I use in my oatmeal, Cream of Wheat, eggs, meat hash, and other fried food.
And, this is from a party whose candidate EATS PIZZA WITH A KNIFE AND FORK??!!

And, your ignorant analysis is PRECISELY WHY HARRIS LOST!
But, keep up your ignorant ranting and raving, and Trump will have a 3RD TERM in 2028!!
ELECTIONS HAVE CONSEQUENCES, AND YOU ARE GOING TO CONTINUE TO LOSE, LOSE, LOSE!!!
The voters are the people who count, not the NO-SHOWS! The voters need to be addressed, and that means THEIR IMMEDIATE CONCERNS, NOT 'ASPIRATIONS'!!
It was the SUBURBAN VOTERS who helped swing the contest, not the NO-SHOWS!
The Dems ignored the people who counted, even if they are 'equal before the Law' and 'created equal', which we all know is a FAIRY TALE!!

A Cybertruck owner said it was so?! And, Weinstein the Grifter says, "Hold that thought!"
Well, now you got me interested because all those drones over the US East Coast seem to have disappeared as if they were just a radio/internet hoax ..., like the War of the Worlds ....
Note, please, how well 'classifying' the math stopped thermonuclear technology from spreading around the World ..., ask the boys at The Progressive, and look at how that entire issue resolved itself.
Also, sounds like a lot of physics 'research' spends its time Drinking inside the Error Bar, like the nuclear engineers in the old Beta Bar.

Always amazed how people read what they want to into Mahan, as in what will justify their budgets, personal and governmental. Just a bunch of people who wouldn't or won't think for themselves, without applying the need to PROVE he was or is still relevant to a situation.
Mitchell was right in the emerging power of aviation, but grotesquely wrong about the actual technical aspects that only really sorta came to fruition in WW2, although I doubt carriers would have ever overcome a surface action group by themselves especially early in WW2 (HMS Glorious and Leyte sorta shine here).
Question is, were there any other actually effective leaders who did not really need Mitchell's acts of bravado to make things happen. After all, Mitchell was very much USN vs. USA in the US defense pig sty for funding and preeminence, especially when the 'Once and Future Lamestream Media' to a hold of that 'huge' story ..., a story meant to prod the ever-present Local Barbershop/YouTube Experts ..., you know like FLERFs and other History Channel Amateur Historians ...
MItchell seems to have been a 'Prophetic' Guderian for airpower instead of a post facto 'Genius' Guderian for his (self-asserted) prowess in armor warfare ..., and why Allies should not jail him and NATO should hire him ...

Listening again, and the whole arc sounds like a more and more Vulture Capitalist production, with scriptwriters just pulled off the streets as needed, and who know there is no repeat gig, so who cares? Really bad script supervision and a producer who only cares about the $$$$, not the quality, because they're bailing after their stint, too.
Isn't that the story of far too many series, nowadays? Little, if any, commitment to the product, just the paychecks, resumes AND, MOST IMPORTANTLY, MAKING CONTACTS AS ENABLERS OF PRODUCERS' NEEDS. BTW, who is Kurtzman related to, because HE is the Nepo Problem at it's nastiest.

Now, apply everything "Sabine Sez" to the nuclear power game, from the grifting vendors to the craft doing the code welding and concrete placement.
That is EXACTLY what I've pointed out in the past.
Project Managers, System Designers, Equipment Vendors, Field Engineers, Startup Engineers, Operators and all the people who point to professional certificates, code stamps, university degrees, and government (self-)certifications are just as venal as the 'scientists' Sabine is expressing her doubts about.
The problem with the nuclear industry is they've managed to neuter the Quality Assurance and Quality Control programs and policies that were intended to at least SOMETIMES police the industry in the name of Self-Policing AND LOWER COSTS!
You know, the kind of regulatory capture that gave us Fukushima, and is clearly documented in the final report on that debacle.

Been involved with design, licensing, construction, startup, operation, maintenance, and management of complex and hazardous facilities just sitting on the ground. That includes safety and risk management in the design, construction, operation, and shut down phases, where violations of government-mandated standards and even LAWS make you and your entire enterprise subject to civil and criminal penalties; civil and criminal penalties broken down to the INDIVIDUAL level.
Na'ah, ain't gonna happen. This idea makes multiple facility nuclear power plant all on one site AND IN OUTER SPACE look like a Putt-Putt Miniature Golf Course.
Or, have others here been involved with $$$$billion projects covering decades of planning, designing, constructing and starting up together with operation and maintenance for decades involving such a high tech, extremely hazardous facilities that went as planned, without ginourmous cost overruns and maybe not even an actual completion?!
See Common Sense Skeptic channel, and then add those PRACTICAL ENGINEERING ISSUES listed above.

Thanks for covering this story which would normally get tamped down by the people trying to make a cheap $$$ on this tech.
And, sorry, what is your practical experience cleaning up nuclear material, as in even that spread about from a fizzle? The best analysis I've read from the 1990s pretty much ended up with an abandoned Manhattan. I now forget the gentleman's name, but he was an acknowledged expert in the field and worked with the UCS.
BTW, that NC professor is just looking to keep his job teaching fools ..., er ..., eager students the guild secrets of nuclear engineering.
Just another enrichment boondoggle in the US which the DOE will be left holding the bag on when this all blows over ..., like the previous processes people have tried to use this Left Behind DOE site for ..., piggy-backing on the local dead economy and past risk/safety analysis for the site.
A lot like the multi-billions $$$$$$$$$ DOE spent on the recent MOX fuel facility in South Carolina ..., which failed as everything but an anchor to make sure SC doesn't drift out to sea ...

Terry Pratchett and his posse of REAL scientist are still best, as noted in the MULTI-volume Science of Discworld/Folklore of Discworld series that show ACTUAL SCIENCE related and compared to the 'magic', and as explained by REAL PhD physicists.
Interesting things: How about the COVID-type epidemics raging throughout the Universe where there is connectivity all over the place?
Quite frankly, I'm bored by Middle Ages costume dramas without disease just as much as I don't care about Jane Austen, LOTR, Star Wars, etc without smells, disease, just plain cancer and the like. I'm tired of colouring book history, like Cowboys and Indians in Outer Space (Star Wars), in Middle Earth (LOTR), and in even in the US Old West (She Wore a Yellow Ribbon, etc).

As a person who thought they were going to see a epic version of the Story of Beren and Luthien, or the Story of the Simlarils and the Two Trees in Prime's Prequel to The Lord of the Rings twaddle, there are a LOT of other people who have grown tired with lacklustre, hackneyed, "Not Good Enough to Get a Novel Published" Screenwriters in Hoollllllywood, as Bullwinkle would say it.
Even P.G. Wodehouse, the guy who penned such souffles as the Jeeves and Wooster series, was head hunted for Hollywood, and returned to Reality years later with as close to a visceral hatred of that sucking black hole as he could manage.
Let's face it, The Borg is a Get Out of Jail Free card for Really Bad Writing! The Shiny Red Robots of Vortis were FAR more entertaining (q.v., BBC's Hyperdrive).
Did they at least play Floyd's "In the Flesh" for those Nazi scenes?!

Titanic wasn't a Science film, it was a VULTURE CAPITALISM movie.
The various accident investigations through the years demonstrate the $$$$ driven failure of mere TECHNOLOGY. The 'dingbat' explaining the sinking is NAVAL ENGINEERING, not Science, too. Just using the definitions from the "No Physics Progress in 70 Years" you made.
And, the meta-fact that the movie was driven by VULTURE CAPITALISM EXPLOITATION of the initial VULTURE CAPITALISM fiasco ...
(Let's talk bad riveting, $$$ ignoring of coal bunker fire before departure, increased speed to deal with the danger of the coal bunker fire in context, sailors having pay stopped the minute the ship sank, ... all $$$-driven, the $$$ spent on the Song to get "medals, Boris, we win medals!" ...)
No Science, just bad Engineering and Technology driven by $$$ ..., no calculus required, no atomic physics, just mere $$$ E&T ..., that's what let a flawed ship be built and sailed.

To quote Francis Bacon ...,
"There is in human nature generally, more of the fool than of the wise;
and therefore those faculties, by which the foolish part of men’s minds is taken,
are most potent."
Followed up by a description of why Duh-Nald is so popular with Ig'nant MAGAts ...,
"Wonderful like is the case of boldness in civil business: what first?
boldness; what second and third? boldness. And yet boldness is a
child of ignorance and baseness, far inferior to other parts. But nev-
ertheless it doth fascinate, and bind hand and foot, those that are
either shallow in judgment, or weak in courage, which are the great-
est part; yea and prevaileth with wise men at weak times.
Therefore we see it hath done wonders, in popular states; but with senates, and
princes less; and more ever upon the first entrance of bold persons
into action, than soon after; for boldness is an ill keeper of promise.
Surely, as there are mountebanks for the natural body, so are there
mountebanks for the politic body; men that undertake great cures,
and perhaps have been lucky, in two or three experiments, but want
the grounds of science, and therefore cannot hold out."

Once again, Vulture Capitalism with a different name.
Can't imagine it has improved. The only thing that has changed is probably an increased level of stress in the hiring group, and the proportion of their grants outright CONFISCATED by the institution they work in, for the edification of 'upper management'.
Relatives of mine have taken both tracks, postdoc and direct to industry as PhDs.
The one who had to fund himself, mostly, is the one who went to industry from a school the Ivy League used to ask to join them, and the one with large parental subsidies went postdoc at Ivy League. The differences in their earnings are concrete, and their job satisfaction and stress are stark.
Also, interesting that your experience shows why States of Stupid STAY States of Stupid, cuz politics of the Great Unwashed and the Vulture Capitalist Wannabe Politicians. Funny how there used to be secretaries and file clerks that kept the 'talent' at my workplace doing 'talent stuff'. But now, cuz computers, all that support is GONE and admin tasks take up much of my time, from work control to procedure writing. That's ALSO Vulture Capitalism under disguise.

Entire speech is utter drivel from the time he spreads the lie that Hamas struck with the idea of RIDDING THE WORLD OF JEWS.
There were no attacks by Hamas in the US, on college campuses, in Europe, etc. Just attacks in the land Israeli terrorists purged of the inhabitants in the Nakba.
After that, NOTHING HE SAID IS OF ANY SIGNIFICANCE.
He is yelling at the American people, but I have lived through a lot of the same violence he has and I'm not so STUPID to believe his lies and misrepresentations because his rhetoric and word salad is now in my direct contrast to my experience of ALL those many years.
What happened to all the peace programs that the actual founders of Israel started, but which the current right wing Jewish cults have destroyed and are attempting to erase?!
His entire speech is the cultivation of a HORRENDOUS STRAWMAN, all to appease his supporters and financiers in 'the Jewish community', as he emphasizes in his own words in the speech.
Reasonable people will come to reasonable solutions, BUT Old Joe is trying to be a hard guy when the reasonable people are SICK of the never ending violence and oppression from both sides, but especially BOTH sides.
He will not win the election pandering. He will not win without the support of all those reasonable people who recoil from BOTH sides, regardless of "Who Punched Who First, THIS TIME AROUND."
Oh, and Joe, Martin Luther was a virulent ANTI-SEMITE, which your comic book story of history seems not to mention.

The Patriarchy will fall when there are enough other power centers to put politics in play, instead of effectively-dead, old fossils BUYING their political power, as the SCOTUS legitimized in the Money is Speech travesty. That means flushing the Nepos the Patriarchy has left behind to be 'the Evil Men Do' living beyond the grave.
That also means the effectively-dead, old fossils VOTING to sustain their privileges.
It will take at least that generation LBJ thought, foolishly, the Democrats would lose the South for.
And, for every Reformation there is a Counter Reformation.
As to AI, once the stockholders and other Vulture Capitalists fire all the humans, WHO IS GONNA BUY THE PRODUCTS? It's just the same ole Neo-Liberal Globalization where the weasels steal the $$$$ to make it happen, and then there's nobody left to buy those cheap DVD players from China or Thailand. But the weasels are living good in the Turks and Caicos. See the UK for the bleeding edge of that collapse.

Gad, you are vicious, and so on point.
Wish I had the math in grade school so I could have tracked on through. Partially my fault because, like alphabetizing, I was absent the day the teacher went over Commutative, Associative, and Distributive, with no attempt made to bring me up to speed.
Later, when I was doing neutron transport theory and radiation shielding coursework, that sorta thing would have really come in handy. Thank Cthulhu for Numerical Methods.
Peter Cook the Great:
"I could've been a judge, but I never had the Latin... I never had the Latin to get through the rigorous judging exams. They're very rigorous, the judging exams, very rigorous indeed. They're noted for their rigor. People come out of them saying, "My God, what a rigorous exam!" And so I become a miner instead. I managed to get through the mining exams. They're not very rigorous. There's no rigor involved really. There's a complete lack of rigor involved in the mining exams. They only ask you one question. They say, "Who are you?" And I got 75 percent on that."

So, the report highlights some of the UTTER SCAM that nuclear power is, from engineers who lie about costs on to project managers who can't manage them, either.
Perhaps that was demonstrated when, as I noted elsewhere, the APR project in South Carolina was sunk with HUGE time and $$$ overruns ..., and then they had to admit they made their Project Schedule they showed to SC government officials base on SALES PROCHURES AN PROMOTIONAL LITERATURE FROM THE MARKETING DEPARTMENT OF THE PLANT'S VENDORS?!
I worked building and bringing on line some of the last large nukes in the US back in the 1980s/90s, and I saw the incompetence and fraud involved at vendors, AE firms, constructors, utilities, etc., as in ALL SEGMENTS OF THOSE PROJECTS. I see no reason to think ANYTHING has changed, and Georgia Power and SC utilities proved it for the "NEWER, FASTER, BETTER" APR scam, and now you show the same for SMRs.
I wish it was not so, but that's the reality.

Haven't read Mein Kampf, and it's been called, "The Most Unread Published Book Set in Germany"! It showed up everywhere, including the list of Wedding Gifts We Received, and the basic sense is nobody bothered reading what can only be called dense, turgid, ignorant rants and raves. William Shirer, I think, has specific opinions on this 2 volume set in his writings.
HOWEVER, the key points have often been published and discussed, which is why Himmler-wannabes like Steve "Creepy Boy" Miller and the like are able to pass on the words and spirit of Nazi IdeoLOLogy to echo chambers like Trumps skull and speech writers.

I respect your opinion and enjoy your presentations in SCIENCE and RESEARCH.
I now live in a area where the BEST NUCLEAR HAS TO OFFER HAS DROPPED AN EXCESS BALANCE OF $6 BILLION TO $7 BILLION ON THE RATEPAYERS BECAUSE OF THEIR INCOMPETENCE. ARE YOU GOING TO PITCH IN TO HELP PAY THAT OFF?! AND, any profits from selling 'excess capacity' that these plant's generate WILL GO TO STOCKHOLDER, NOT BE PRO-RATED TO THE RATEPAYERS to pay off that criminal cost blowout.
ADDITIONALLY, THAT IS $7 BILLION OVER THE BUDGET, NOT THE actual many MORE $BILLIONS that the plant ACTUALLY COST.
Oh, AND THAT IS NOT INCLUDING THE $BILLIONS WASTED ACROSS THE RIVER FOR THE SAME PLANTS CANCELLED BECAUSE OF SPIRALING COST?!
How much are YOU going to pitch in to pay for those plant, which were built with the ALLEGEDLY BEST OF CURRENT PRACTICE, NOT THE OLD GENERATION
WHEN AND HOW ARE YOU GOING TO HELP PAY MY ELECTRIC BILL AND ESPECIALLY THE BILLS OF THE MILLIONS OF POOR PEOPLE IN THE STATE?!
HOWEVER, until you present me with evidence you have any experience running a PROJECT of the breadth and depth of constructing a nuclear power plant, and until you present evidence you have any experience in bringing a NEW, HYPED-AND-OVER-MARKETED tech like the current crop of GET RICH QUICK SCHEMES that are small reactor, and until you present any evidence you have any experience in safely and EFFICIENTLY operating and maintaining nuclear reactors you are merely PARROTING THE SALES BROCHURES OF A BUNCH OF DISREPUTABLE AND/OR CLUELESS CON ARTISTS.
I was in The Industry for many years and helped bring the last few plants on-line in the US. Even at that time, it was a huge bunch of clowns and incompetent project managers when there were decades of experience just lolling about to be applied.
Again, what is YOUR experience, especially dealing with the LIES and CROOKEDNESS of Big Industry, especially with the people pushing it like GE.
BTW, please spare us the tales of Japanese nuclear, as Fukushima SHOWS CLEARLY that the Japanese Nuclear Regulator was in the pocket of the utilities. That is what gave us Fukushima.
PLEASE go back to the things you excel in. You do not excel in the financials and the costs to the ratepayers, LIKE SO MANY TECH AND SCIENCE DON'T
Oh, and until YOU are going to set up a Patreon for all the ratepayers ripped off by these boondoggles, by the US practice of state-based utility management ,YOU have no dog in this fight, so PLEASE BUTT OUT! These plants are LOCAL burdens with NON-LOCAL profits, so you can just go back to your research, please.

The US is going back to the nativist, xenophobic, Vulture Culture of ignorance, racism, and greed of Pre-WW2 America ... oh yeah, AND RELIGION-DRIVEN BIGOTRY.
The key to the Bigors R Us 2025 Plan is basically remove Medicare, remove Social Security, remove The Great Society, remove all Regulatory agencies, and MOST IMPORTANT remove FDR from the dime.
This is the sub-troglodyte mentality of National Review for the last 50 years, and all those racists and Screw You I Got Mine Nosers-of-The-1%er-Crack have obsessed over it since FDR came to power.
That includes, as you have noticed, the Science Community founded and sustained by the NRDC & OSRD, which we know is just full of "Uppity People Smarter Than Both Us Voters & The Rich".
The Rich Tole Us So!!

Came back to this video after watching the Thunderf00t video that referenced it 4 months later, and wanted to add ...
Additionally, Engineers are apocryphally not effective communicators, however, the REAL, ACTUAL ISSUE IS GOOD engineers are not effective communicator WHEN THEY DON'T WANT TO BE.
When they are behind schedule and have problems they don't understand, and think it is THEIR FAULT they don't know, very bad things happen to the flow of information and communication.
This is NOT helped by management that does not know how to read the room and figure out the engineers are being reticent because they know THEY will tacitly be blamed, annually reviewed as below expectations, and be looking for a new job to pay their mortgage and feed their (perhaps) families.
Project management driven with a whip from above and using motivation by threat, however unspoken and plausibly deniable, makes a HUGE difference, and is where things go really wrong. Been in several large 1000 MW power plant projects along with trying to follow the unspoken whims of government using a ouija board, and project management is a burnout career, along with the people trying to help the project managers.

Actually, Miller looks like Reinhard Heydrich, which is a good look for a racist, bigoted MAGAt ..., a reallly really stupid Heydrich ..., yeah, redundant MAGAt, I know ...

The problem is not with the tech, it is with the EFFICIENT CONSTRUCTION AND EQUITABLE SHARING OF COSTS OF THESE INSTALLATIONS!
The local Vogtle new reactors are most likely safe, BUT THE RATE PAYERS ARE GOING TO BE SOAKED FOR $$$$ BILLIONS IN COST OVERRUNS FROM CONSTRUCTION LIES AND MISREPRESENTATIONS ALONG WITH CORRUPT SCHEDULE SLIPPAGE ON THE PARTS OF THE PROJECT!!!
Of course, the $$$$$$$ stolen from the ratepayers will not affect the DIVIDENDS OF SHAREHOLDERS, ESPECIALLY WHEN THE POWER IS SOLD OUT OF REGION BECAUSE OF LOCAL OVER CAPACITY. This has been covered time and again, as in how ENRON was soaking California in power costs, but the ratepayers didn't see their part of that loot, only the shareholders and company officials.
But, as usual, "engineers' always shield themselves from criticism by saying 'it was the other guys who did that, honest!', and Joe Public is stupid enough to believe them.

'Publicans LIE AS A REFLEX ACTION AND ONLY TO SUIT THEIR BIGOTRY, NOT EVERYONE'S RIGHTS!!
I've BEEN IN those lunchroom, backrooms, carpools, etc. with at least the common Good Ole White Boys, and because I pretty much 'fit in' I get to hear their real bigotry.
I've SEEN elections and results after the power has changed, and HISTORY SHOWS THEY LIE IN OFFICE!
Newt Gingrich and his parasitic offspring have turned the GOP from a Party of Ideas, bad or good, into a PIG TROUGH DINING CLUB.
As a child, I heard the rants and raves against obviously corrupt Democrats, but it is the GOP that is NOW the obviously corrupt party, and a corrupt party that benefits ONLY THE 1%ers and their bought legislators and legal parasites.
BTW, we're also talking about The Legal Mind, and I've got enough lawyers and an actual judge in the extended family. They have had good minds removed with The Law School Enema, and refilled with The Law School Way, which only deals with LEGAL, NOT JUSTICE. Oh, and these are South Jersey Legal Minds, who are in the same fetid swamp as Alito was pulled from just because he's a Catholic, anti-abortion stooge.

This is a small version of the ADULT WORLD OF WORK that is also depicted in a multi-episode of the building of an inconspicuous 'high rise' in NYC that was out 20 years or so ago. Think it was simply called 'Skyscraper', and covered the steel, property acquisition, union issues, configuration management and modifications, etc. that REAL projects involve.
It is the HIDDEN world of the economy where THE OLD B/S US PHILOSOPHY OF WORKING HARDER AND NOT SMARTER IS UTTERLY DESTROYED, but so few people ever see the SMARTER that is really needed.
These short and long form documentaries should be MANDATORY viewing in SOME kind of class in US high school to provide some kind of attempted education of the Great Unwashed of US students of how being an ADULT is not just waving your arms and expecting a miracle to occur, as, quite frankly, I find is FAR too present in The Disney Version of Realty which is spoon fed to US children. A version where you have parents who work normal, but 'chic', jobs and yet can afford HUGE 5%er to 1%er houses in PERFECT neighborhoods and schools.

And yet, you watched those media people and apparently can tell us how they took advantage of what is, in the end, just another news story?
A news story that would not have existed if someone, ANYONE, in Duh Royalty Bidness had been honest and forthright.
Duh Royals are nothing but a PR/Marketing figure for the UK, and if some want to step back, Welcome to the Monkey House.
But, imagine the furor and threats resulting from someone like those Republicans JAILED before the coronation, spoke up about the farce of the entire Royal Franchise in the WORLD, today. Especially given every time they're photographed there's some kind of Empire Pillage in the frame?

Interesting idea about some military training screening tests.
You don't need to be smart, you need to have too much testosterone and be willing to do sometimes illegal, even reckless, things.
The 'correct' answers are what you would recognize as "Artificial Intelligence Doesn't Exist" loaded-gun, clearly-biased issues with the training data.
Needless-to-say, used to be women were automatically at a disadvantage.
Glenn's venal abuse of his elected position was one of the first indications I had that even the space race was rigged, not that he had any better insight.
Then when Reagan and crew helped pressure the launch of Challenger, and a panel let it happen, and then everybody did the ole Good Ole Boy Shuck-and-Jive afterwards changed my vision forever.
I even began believing in the ERA, and also understood that the very existence of the Voting Rights Act demonstrated the continued Jim Crow discrimination in the US, too.
As to ole Werner v B, "'Once the rockets are up, who cares where they come down, Zat's not my depaartment ...',sez Werner von Braun"

The internet and the internet bros that have captured the eyes of the 'dainty ones' in the Democrats, the Professional Democrats, are just Vulture Capitalist spinoffs, so is it any surprise that the STENCH of Vulture Capitalism has infected politics and turned people into just Amazon Voters?!
I contributed to the Dems so they would HIRE people to go out and get others involved LIKE YOU SUGGEST! I don't need the atmosphere of the old "3rd Ward Democratic Assn" or "5th Ward Polish American Club" to get me to vote or vote Democratic, and I am now too busy and tired to go out and canvass myself, anymore. But, that doesn't mean they are not needed for a lot of other people, and that I would not belong to one and pay dues, but not really wander down to them for 'community' ..., just like I do for the local VFW chapter I belong to ...
Funny how this was a KEY message of old "Yee Haaah" Howard Dean, who was key in grass roots organizations staffed by PEOPLE, that got plowed under by the Clintons and following sycophants because it wasn't Fleetwood Mac Chic. Dean got put into that organization position BECAUSE he was too 'proletarian' for the Lamestream Media's taste, another group of Booboisie-Grade, Chi-Chi Barbecue Cookout snobs. I grew up blue collar and have seen a huge change in Democrats over the years, and not for the good.

HISTORY in a referenced, footnoted BOOK with a further bibliography is FAR more interesting and REAL than comic book pseudo-history in a movie. I watch movies for ENTERTAINMENT. I watch the RIGHT YouTube channels for history, science, tech, not movies.
But, awards like this are given by MOVIE PEOPLE, not historians; the key is does it meet their preconceived INDUSTRY-BIASED mind wank ..., AND the influence of the $$$$ people who promote and market movies.
I don't need HEROES invented by a bunch of second-rate scriptwriters, and that's ALL of the pseudo-history writers, I'll chose the people I admire from the facts and RESULTS they drove to completion. You can't and don't get THAT in a movie.
I admire JFK for his ideals, not the way he was a military failure who got canned from Washington DC for his affairs with the wrong wives and sent to the Pacific to die in combat, but who survived and made a hero because his DADDY pulled strings. The history to me says he was flawed, but the history ALSO tells me he was a LEADER with the right ideas at the right time, in spite of those flaws!
That's Reality.
But, things like THAT will NEVER be put into a movie, cuz profits and $$$$ to make the film in the first place, and bad writing and biased directing.
Movies are mostly propaganda for whatever the director BELIEVES, and I'm not wasting time and money on that when I can get a reviewed and vetted real history in print or on YouTube (for example).

Philosophy is a free reservoir of Think Different. I REALLY miss Daniel Dennett, for example!!
BUT, like AI, it requires a degree of comprehension and review by the people hoping to find value in it.
There is no calibrated Philos-O-Meter, analog or digital, to help you out in the most important part ..., other than the philosophers who are eating their young to keep their tenured position. (But, we converged on that, is seems)
The big question is would a 'loving' god use 'mere mortals' like humans in this experiement? Even today, more and more of those 'mere mortals' grant self-awareness to 'mere animals', and then eschew animal experimentation.
Finally, chaos ..., does this god's 'instrument' have NO RANDOM COMPONENTS in the computing device, much less components that will not wear out and break/need replacement with an unquestionably 'different' component ..., if not, why does this god even NEED to run such a simulation, ANYWAY?
In summary:
Talk is Cheap, Grants Cost Ideas and Proposals!

It would have been incompetence on the scale of ..., well ..., the RN's other great episode, Operation Cerberus, if the RN had not been able to find and sink the Bismark.
It WAS infatuation of the highest degree to obsess over the almost useless Tirpitz, though.
More "Triumph of Churchill".
Oh yes, WWI protection, a 3 shaft system that caused hunting and excessive rudder orders, and things like fire control cabling running above the armored citadel and problematic AA control along with electrical problems with the exposed secondary, compromised by a split-use secondary battery. Oh, and an abysmal escort support structure.
But, again, there was the WWI design on the main force of U-boats, too.

On one hand, the brick-and-mortar are too cheap to have a competent, COMPLETE workforce.
They have accepted ACCOUNTANTS' AND MBA opinions that they can afford the losses from THEFT as long as they don't have to take on ADEQUATE employees.
But, that kind of reasoning means your accepting the opinions of people who have never SOLD merchandise or RUN a store, and therefore probably don't understand the BUYERS ..., unless they finance A Study.
Kinda hard to make a profit if you don't have BUYERS, regardless of how low you push 'Human Capital Costs' which is a term that should result in LYNCHING.
On the other hand, you have to buy not from Amazon, but from an actual SPECIALIST store that may take a couple extra days to get you what you 'probably' need.
That's only one small aspect of the overall problem of CHEAP, BUT MORE PROFITABLE, items on Amazon, and that is why they will eventually crash and burn as nobody trusts anything they buy on Amazon. I mostly use Amazon to see if there is a good otherwise seller off Amazon.

Sounds like I go back to re-watching Queppu, Lallakkists, Red Shiny Robots of Vortis, and Star Fleet command tormenting Capt Mike "Hendo" Henderson on the Camden Lock.
"Kill the Humans, End their Cullture ...."
That and a lot of Asian costume dramas and rom-com series, which are far more innovative and well written (i.e., not scripted by the stagnant, polluted Hollywood scriptwriter pool).
Thanks for suffering so we might live!
Kinda a commentary on US productions that your video sounds FAR more interesting than the actual series you reviewed.
"Brought the word 'Bad' to new levels of Badness. Bad Acting. Bad Effects. Bad Everything. This Bad Film just oozed Rotteness from every Bad scene ... Simply Bad beyond all infinite dimensions of possible Badness ..., Well, maybe not that Bad, but, lord, it wasn't Good!"

That's the 'narrative' the current Talking Head Class learned in Journalism 'School' as people who needed refresher courses in 'Murican History, World History, 'Talking Our of Both Sides of their Mouths' Rhetoric, and English 101 so they could become Professional Book Report Scribblers.
As a STEM grad, I took all those same courses ('cept English 101 and Composition cuz I actually learned that in High School) AND courses in Vector Calculus, Chemisty, Transport Theory, and Systems Design, where there actually WERE RIGHT AND WRONG ANSWERS, instead of the Journalist 'Participation' Awards.
Journalists are only as correct as their last retrodiction, and even then, just look at the FoxSPEWS morons for a 99 44/100th% FAIL rate on predicting the past.
Where are the Mike Roykos and Daniel Schorrs of time past, except in the margins the "Fair and Balanced" FoxSPEWS bullies and NPR weaklings consigned them to?

It's not a question of SPECIES!
It's a question of a Tool User and a Tool.
The question is will there be SUFFICIENT, HIGH QUALITY CONTROLS instituted by the money grubbing business world, where there are both civil and criminal culpability enforced for torts and crimes that are legally defined for people who use such tools without regard for the outcomes?
RIGHT NOW, there are $$$$BILLIONS flowing in arbitrage and hedge funds and derivatives trading that can and almost did bring the World Economy crashing down, all because the regulators were too inept or constrained by corrupt, inept, and/or lazy politicians to prevent wide scale fraud from disregard of due diligence on the part of financial institutions.
In these cases of Tool Users misusing a Tool, it is aptly a case of the Tool Users, in the guise of financial traders who did NOT understand the programs in use but DID have the right Good Old Boy Connections, a case of those Tool Users OBVIOUSLY being 'dumber' than the PhDs with the right math and science backgrounds who actually ran the programs but did not do the actual Business Fraud. I already almost had a PhD nuclear assay 'scientist' poached from my group by several financial firms who wanted to use the PhDs expertise in data analysis and methods to drive their Vulture Capitalism business ventures.
This sci-fi Man vs. The Machine/Robot seems to be VERY over-dramatized, and the actual circumstances ALREADY exist in lesser form, today. We've learned some of the lessons, so time to dump the fantasization of this subject and get on with practical policies to deal with it.

I'm an old jack-of-all-trades facility construction, startup, operation, maintenance, modification, and retirement engineer.
I've also had to work with hazardous materials and the required risk management involved at the overall level down to the industrial safety with how to ground equipment to make sure it is energy-safe.
The stake through the heart is the project management, risk management, financial management, and regulatory oversight/management.
How many airplanes take a crash or two to 'get it right'?
Now, imagine that involves a structure that will cause mayhem in Earth orbit and on the ground, involving all the energy, kinetic/potential/electrical/vibrational/invisible pink unicorn, locked up in this system and just looking for a way to leak out!

Sorry, "Progressive" has been kidnapped to mean 'Even More Suspect Than Socialist", like why Teddy Roosevelt lost with the Bull Moose Party in a Proto-Gilded Age of Predatory Capitalism.
The Dems don't care about working people unless they are in the minority demographics and can be turned into feel-good 'aspriational' campaign issues instead of the issues like THE PRICE OF GAS and THE PRICE OF FOOD. Those are issues THAT ACTUALLY AFFECTS PEOPLE HERE AND NOW!!
THAT image of Dems who don't care about 'food on the table' issues is what rules NOW.
This election was turned on the same suburban swing voters that elected Biden, previously, because they saw him as someone who knew THEIR problems. Harris was first, a minority, and, second, a woman, and, third, a candidate spewing 'Glittering Generalities'.
That is the ugly truth about US politics. That is why HARRIS WAS THE VP ON BIDEN'S TEAM, NOT BIDEN THE VP ON HARRIS' TEAM.
The last election ALSO was turned on people WHO DIDN'T BOTHER TO TURN UP for any number of the above reasons.
The Dems did NOTHING to sell their record nor condemn their opponents ON REAL BREAD AND BUTTER ISSUES!!
SO OBVIOUSLY, the people who actually vote PREFERRED TRUMP as being able to 'fix' things.

There is ABSOLUTELY NO INFRASTRUCTURE ON MARS to support the technically demanding and advanced artificial environment that is needed TO KEEP PEOPLE FROM DYING IN MINUTES OF TOUCHDOWN! And yet, we can't even get clean water to all people on Earth, yet!
Examples:
A diffusion unit breaks and immolates several near it, rendering it impossible to support 500 of the people currently living there. Where do you 'buy' one? You can't take huge inventories there and store them SUCCESSFULLY AND SAFELY for possible emergencies! You can't even do so on Earth, like keeping adequate spares that are compatible with your equipment in a normal industrial setting where there are hundreds of facilities around Earth that may need fixes or replacement.
The equivalent of a 'sea chest' ruptures on a Mars module, rendering it uninhabitable and unable to support operations. How do you fix it when this was all built ON EARTH IN HUGELY FAVORABLE MANUFACTURING ENVIRONMENTS!
The population starts dying of unforeseen feed back between excessive radiation exposure, food 'manufactured' on Mars, and lack of drugs.
A Supply ship crashes on the main command and control area and fries huge amounts of information and electronic command and control systems, along with making HUGE breaches in the environmental containment need TO KEEP PEOPLE FROM DYING IMMEDIATELY!
Some psycho who BOUGHT his way to Mars breaks down because Daddy/Mommy can't buy him a ride back to Earth, so he goes around sabotaging the colony or outright destroying airlocks because he's high up the food chain because of Daddy's/Mommy's money and has the means and clearances.
Space Karen was too cheap and crooked to do adequate risk assessment on merely his StarShip base, opting instead to just keep blowing things up until he succeeds with some extra duct tape and bailing wire. He is TOO CHEAP TO EVEN HAVE AN ABORT RESCUE SYSTEM ON HIS STARSHIP TO POSSIBLY SAVE A CREW OR HUGE NUMBER OF PASSENGERS ON A LAUNCH FAILURE; HIS STARSHIP IS NOT MAN-RATED!!!
Colonizing Mars is a pipe dream, and I mean a CRACK PIPE DREAM! Mars will NEVER be able to support itself, so it is NOT some bolt hole for Earth on Mars, like New Zealand and the like are for crooks on Earth. When Columbus had ship problems in the New World, THERE WERE STILL TREES, NOT TO MENTION OXYGEN, TO REPAIR HIS SHIPS TO GET BACK TO THE OLD WORLD.
That LAST FACT is the stake in the heart of this SCAM/CON JOB/PONZI SCHEME!!
If Life dies on Earth, IT WILL ALSO GET SNUFFED OUT ON MARS IN JUST ANOTHER FEW MONTHS..., and there will be no 'cavemen or intelligent apes' left on Mars to populate The Planet of the Apes fantasy world, either. That is the ADULT FACT that con men like Space Karen ignore on their way to fraudulently stealing money from the government and investors RIGHT HERE AND NOW!
You know FRAUDULENTLY LIKE HE USED HIS SCAM HYPERLOOP TO RUIN THE CHANCE OF CALIFORNIA GETTING HIGH SPEED RAIL THAT WOULD OBSOLETE HIS STILL-NOT-CARBON-NEUTRAL EVS AND THEIR GOVERNMENT SUBSIDIES!!!!
The Common Sense Skeptic and Thunderf00t have debunked this on their channels in FUNDAMENTAL TERMS years ago, and nothing has changed since then.
Oh, and I've worked in and supported high-tech, hazardous material and atmosphere environments for decades. This is all from personal experience with even 'last-decades-tech', much less the bleeding edge tech Space Karen pretends exists. We can't even keep a space station habitable for a handful of tenants without huge costs and decaying orbital infrastructure. Now add a couple decimal points to that population and to the cycle times of emergency response. People with experience in such industries know Musk is a crook and his continual NON-DELIVERY ON HIS PROMISES AND 'PROJECTS' IS PROOF.

A LOT of people, especially people with Windows bricks come the end of 2025, would be happy if Microsoft were LESS SUCCESSFUL, LESS DESTRUCTIVE/GREEDY, AND MORE COMPETENT!
For one thing, DRDOS and follow-on product might exist in competition instead of MS having ground them into dust by DELIBERATELY SABOTAGING WINDOWS NOT TO RUN ON THAT SUPERIOR PRODUCT. Oh, and let's not the MS company motto, "DOS isn't done 'til Lotus won't run!"
Gates was a US bidnessman, meaning he is, by default, a crook.
Gates is a billionaire, meaning he used cash to suck the life breath out of his wage slaves for his own use.

"IT'S THE ECONOMY, STUPID!!"
Harris' shuck-and-jive was just The Same Ole B/S, Glittering Generalities ..., and Biden slept as Rome burned for the last 3 years, either!
Trump gaslighted the Dems, and they took the bait and campaigned down all his rabbit holes. How stupid can you be?
She didn't ATTACK, ATTACK, ATTACK Trump's FAILS on the economy, especially how he was the Root Cause of Inflation, especially his head of the Federal Reserve!!
She didn't promise REAL, CONCRETE PROGRAMS to help the swing voters in the suburbs that WON FOR BIDEN!!
EVERYTHING ELSE WAS JUST WINDOW DRESSING.

Yeah, the Space Shuttle was YOUR space vehicle, but I'll bet you didn't have a subscription to Aviation Leak & Space Technology during that whole management fiasco, especially when you factor in things like the $MILLIONS wasted on Vandenberg launch site. There is at least one excellent, decades old Owner's Manual publication that covers the entire shuttle program, and seeing the huge changes due to 'that darn thing called Physics', which Shuttle people knew about, was eye opening even for a tacit cheerleader publication (note, this was not a bogus Hayes Manual like have recently been published for such 'vehicles').
When Big Space Karen said "You WILL CLAP by laying the audiences paychecks on the line in a thinly veiled threat that a failure means we're shutting down!" and you know the employment conditions give no parachute, much less gas money out of town to that audience, would there be any other result?!
I worked in the nuclear power industry building, starting up, and operating plants, and I saw exactly the same kind of self-interest supporting some hugely questionable management decisions, including those at a plant actually shut down by the NRC for 'bad attitude' when that was NEVER done.

The Space Karen Fanbase is a bunch of people who need someone ELSE to create meaning in THEIR, the Fanbase's, lives. I can think of nothing more sad that people who seem to be educated but so lacking in self-awareness and in SEEING THEMSELVES for what they are/could be worth on their own initiative.
The fact that they may be able to stroke their egos by posting eventually-pointless videos in YouTube or at Space Karen fanfests, an even make some money, should not hide the fact they are being used as 'useful idiots' and Marketing Tools.
With huge gummint subsidies, SpaceX has delivered a launch system that just now is generating competition. The investment by the gummint was to spur COMPETITION, not develop just Space Karen's particular answer.
Riding government subsidies, Tesla has managed to deliver a near bottom of the class, Quality of Build EV that is NOT the future in most of the US, as hybrids and plug-in hybrids have shown.
Riding government subsidies to build a service that had no real market, his Space Link is up and running, but what is the actual profit outside of gummint purchases of services?
Failed Self-Driving, Man on Mars in 2025, Hyperlink, Solar City, Boring Company, Faked Robot Advances, Useless Semi, Non-existent Roadster, etc. are outright failures.
His malicious use of HyperLoop, as reported and documented, to destroy the high speed rail project in California is further evidence of his ruination of tech for his one greedy purposes, too.
I have seen NOTHING that comes from any or Space Karen's factories that I use in any way. For a genius that has 'revolutionized the World', I find my total disengagement with ANY of his purchased 'technical genius' suspect.

If you had to live in a Greed is Good culture, compounded by ethnic and religious strife, maybe you, too, would be a little more self-centered on your own survival at the expense of other, far more extraneous knowledge?
America didn't get stupid, some of it just never advanced because it didn't have to, with some of that time and effort being spent on even more complicated need for basic survival.
OTOH, a lot of it did advance, relatively. Enough to support a fairly thriving economy?
I've got decades of practical experience, living for extended periods in locations up and down the Eastern Seaboard. What's your personal experience?

Given how weak human minds and brains are at filling in the 'unseen' parts of visual scenes, real, imagined, or reproduced; and seeing how bad some people are at understanding GREAT fiction works, yet a professor or friend can 'splain the plot and nuances to them; and seeing how most people can't do Real Physics, but can follow 'Lies We Tell Children' and have people with an education 'splain things, ditto for falling-to-sleep lectures which can make sense when hearing when conscious; I think there are practical examples ENOUGH to say we are NOT the creators of our own reality.
Oh yeah, lets include your YouTube along with other Real Science ones being able to educate and re-educate a brain and mind when the idea was never in that mind to begin with.
The dreams I have are lucid, but they are far closer to what my Realty would be like, like the Dreamlands in Johannes Cabal and the Fear Institute (another tacit example of my practical proof).
This is a question of brain sophism, where words are mistaken to be the same as the thing they name or describe.

Car talk was great because they did the old screening schtick, as in some one picks up your phone-in and asks, "What's your problem?", they hang up, someone else calls you back later to say "You're up next and we've researched the answer!", sometimes not even that-show 'later', then you get put on with Tom and Ray.
Didn't really matter to me after I found out, either, because it was the only PBS show that was absolutely excellent (well, except for Prairie Home Companion, until the nasty stuff came out)!
Myth Buster?! Like the old Bert and I skit about sausages, "But, once you clean it (i.e., cut the adverts and ENDLESS recapitulation!!!!), Martha, there's not much left!"

Well, then it's just a hand over from the Dumbest Party to the Dumbest People.
The "IT'S THE ECONOMY, STUPID!" Party just went completely 'Aspirational', with all the killer instinct of a white board eraser.
Dems screwed this election, completely. Old Man had to be thrown out, wrong candidate with no vetting, wrong campaign being gaslit by Trump at every turn AND FALLING FOR IT, loss of voters that was not foreseen and immediately jumped on, the list goes on and on. Do people actually get paid to be this clueless?!
As an Independent, am I the only person who can see this feckless show against a candidate that a mediocre candidate could have eviscerated on HIS ECONOMIC PERFORMANCE?!
I've voted Dem since 2004, but all the Dems can show me is ONLY THE FIRST 2 YEARS OF OBAMA as a true success. That is utterly FECKLESS performance!!

Many people live in areas where the majority don't get very good public educations. People just don't value an education because they just know a guy who can get them a good job ..., or there has always been the military. The education those dead-enders after graduation is limited to OJT at work AND DRIVEL MY RELIGIOUS CULT LEADER TOLD ME I HAD TO BELIEVE TO SHARE HIS SAFETY NET. There are no other real safety nets in the US, and preachers are, in the end, people who can't deal with Reality but must instead rely on wishful thinking. Now, I know many very nice and accommodating preachers, but those who have not been to any formal seminary training and practical education are a minefield of the Otherwise Unemployable. I'm talking real seminary and not some goober Baptist Kollege of Bible Knowledge.
Until you somehow find a way to short circuit that whole generic US anti-book-larnin' culture and worship of mere $$$$, and until there is aome replacement for the actual social and emotional needs a religious cult delivers, you are just urinating into a fan blowing back on you. People don't know The Constitution because you don't need to in order to live above the poverty level.
Let's face it, in the US, just enough knowledge to get a driver's license is FAR more important than understanding The Constitution, and as long as the slop the 1%ers leave to the 99%ers is food enough, changing the economy from a rapacious capitalism to something better is similarly not really that important.
Even with the 'educated' 'Muricans, there are still issues with the worship of mere $$$$ and the disdain for having to learn anything new. Sometimes I can see how people have enough trouble trying to lead a healthy, good life, where continuing education is like having a 2nd, 3rd, or 4th job that sucks the joy out of life, too.
A lot of the dead-enders I noted are Trump fans because they know they can't maintain their position in society or gain now that the whole game has changed, and their kids/nieces & nephews are better employment bets than they are.
The Democrats threw too many of these people away in their forced switch from the Democratic Machines that gave us Landslide Lyndon, the Solid South, and other corrupt organizations, their switch from those old time blue collar workers to a push to include minorities and the like after The Great Society.
It's the Democrats fault, too, that they did not even try to understand the difference between The Possible and The Ideal, and capitalize on it.
So, where are the legions of Obamas who COULD change enough of this bad will to let the death of the Cold War generations bring about a turnover of the electorate, as seems the case. In the end, it seems the only thing most people can do is HOPE the train stays on the rails long enough for that change to make a difference in the nation.
But, with the GOP handing the keys to the government to the 1%er weasels and parasites, it's going to be a long climb that I won't see the end of.

If 'god given' rights existed, there would be no need for a Constitution, indeed we'd STILL BE SUBJECTS OF THE DIVINE RIGHT UK MONARCHY!!
Religious Cult Fanatics are fanatics because they are too ignorant and stupid to be even a little informed, much less educated, in ANYTHING THEY CAN'T MAKE UP THEMSELVES!
Grew up around them, work around them, live around them, never impressed and only converse with them when I need to get stuff done.
They need to PREACH because they can never LEARN, except what is PREACHED AT THEM by Authority Figures.
And if 'god given' rights existed, there would be no need for a Constitution, indeed we'd STILL BE SUBJECTS OF THE DIVINE RIGHT UK MONARCHY!!

If they can't do the math, they DON'T UNDERSTAND THE SCIENCE!
The fact they succeeded is more due to ruthlessness and bullying people smarter than they are than their scientific ability.
They're just word salad dealers, who lie and misrepresent as is required by 'Murican Bidnessman 101.
I'd also like to point out that those people for whom science seemed to come easy probably worked a LOT harder through to that point than the people in these examples who grew up in 'comfortable, some-sort-of-success-guaranteed' situations.
BTW, my one summer on Govt work, I read Anna Karenina, War and Peace, Gone with the Wind, Portrait of a Lady, Foundation Trilogy (until it got ridiculous in determinism), cuz too many friends who were in the Arts & Science vs. Engineering & Architecture school. Didn't want to seem illiterate.
I had already started Atlas Shrugged during the school year, but dropped it as being completely out of touch with the way the world ACTUALLY WORKED, cuz capitalism has an unending stream of ambitious, smart people who would NEVER let the government take over like Rand pretended ..., the first of those robber barons were called The Founding Fathers and proved Rand didn't know what she was talking about in because of the ACTUAL march of history ..., you're totally correct that the oligarchs would STARVE and we would tell them not to let the screen door hit them in the butt as they flee to Mars ..., like the bold holes of crooks in New Zealand, where the first thing to happen to them would be their security force would KILL THEM ALL and then live off the plunder of those crooks ...

“War is progressive because all instruments of war are progressive.” US Grant
I remember getting involved with this when first finding Sumida's book on RN pioneering fire control and the Pollen myth of superiority (funny, it was a pre-'clickbait' scholarly book that started and fueled a controversy suitably answered in return salvos like similar controversies surrounding things I remember like variable geometry fighter, fighter bomber, and bomber airfoils, the Phoenix missile system, the F-100 engine that 'doomed' the F-15 and later F-16 (allegedly), the the new-release turbine power unit for the Abrams tank, cruise missiles in strategic and then tactical roles, the M-16 gun, etc).
Went back to WWI era USN gunnery manuals and inter-war enlisted 'ratings' manuals as well as the various reference works on interior and exterior ballistics; hoovered up followup books to Sumida along with Jutland histories (from both sides of the battle line), and into the various sensationalist tripe on the Iowa turret blast and the rebuttals by actual technical experts. Also, found the INRO/Warship International volumes and back issues crammed full of things like actual salvo spread diagrams for US and 'other' ships along with the subsequent Fighting Instructions to US captains (boy, were they gonna be surprised when they closed into the EXTREMELY vulnerable zone for the IJN 20" gun instead of moving to a much-more invulnerable zone based on the wrong assumptions, like 16" guns on the Yamato series). Really wish I'd paid more attention to the appropriate calculus physics in my 1st semester Mechanics classes.
In the end, it was GLARINGLY obvious to me why big guns got the bums rush they did once military tech emerged from the Dark Ages of mechanical tech and into the electrical and electronics ages. Fortunately, things like the US government investing in aviation in general helped spur the development of tech that made the big gun battle line obsolete for both sides at about the same time, without the USN ending up a generation behind.
That need to never be behind has fueled so much USN research, and outright theft of ideas like angel-deck carriers, since that day; some wasted money, some tacitly wasted but still supported (e.g., early Aegis house of cards), and some well invested.
The passing of the big gun was a paradigm shift for the navies as big as relativity and 'billions and billions of galaxies!!' was to astrophysics. It just never has had a Thomas Kuhn treatment of it, as far as I remember reading (but, that's not much of a reach, nowadays).

Sorry, for every step you "disengage" you either STILL buy from a SMALL TIME CROOK instead of a BIG TIME CROOK, both known as 'Murican Bidnessmen! Or, you start relying on tax-funded services that will eventually be cut by the same crooks you are avoiding and then re-embracing with a different name.
Also, you unemploy the people in the companies of the BTC/Big Time Crooks, and crash the economy ..., which destroys the value of the money you THINK you save.
None of this is easy to tease out, but I REALLY don't trust you and the 'drum circle movements' to figure it out, either.
Not until you DEMONSTRATE you have a sound, reasonable idea ..., but this video is NOT IT from the few unaddressed issues I mentioned above.
You may not approve of the BTC's jobs/employees, but they are jobs in places with NO ECONOMY and are taken by people who don't have options, or prefer NOT to take those options.
Start talking personal responsibility and job creation to balance your BTC-Busting and THEN you may have something. Otherwise, you're just Privileged Booboisie Consumers who are punching up while STILL KICKING DOWN.

Trucks have been converging on a very successful design, and Space Karen decides to make a New Wave Tonka Truck to compete with them? Job site trucks need to HAUL, move through job site mud, safely tow thing, AND be easily refueled by the ubiquitous, travelling site fuel truck without having to waste $$$$ driving to and from a special 'extension cord'. This thing is just a Barbie Pink Tonka TOY, but instead of having a 'manly exhaust note' the majority of the current crop use as a selling point to the goobers, it just whines like Space Karen when advertisers flee Twitter as the result of ANOTHER of his gaffes.
(Gee, I 'converged' on Thunderf00t's observation on 'convergence' before even getting to that part in his video!!)
Let's see the ACTUAL Full Self Driving, FIRST, Karen!
I can just hear the Cyber Truck owners going down the road, like the Harley Davidson 'Rhoid Cushion owners in South Park, "Whiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiinnnnnnneeee"!

Irony is LOST on the GOP and people of lesser understanding.
Thinking Beauty will sway TRUE 'smarter-ness', or Intelligence and Expertise as us Book-Larned people call it, is a true mark of ignorance.
I guess nobody ever told her, "You WILL be judged!"
When she says, "When ME and Prezedint Trump ....", those of us who listened in English Class, even in Jr High School, HAVE JUDGED and are LAUGHING at her. I'm sure the judge ALSO is shaking his head, in his mind, thinking, "Oh dear God ....".

Not distrust, just ignoring.
The stories they deal with are very often covered better in the sharper edge, INFORMED media.
Mainstreamers don't lie, they just cover to a abysmal degree of non-detail so's they never threaten their advertisers and so's the viewers are never be challenged to actually think about the reality and maybe have to learn something new. Oh, and the key seems to be a pretty/handsome face, too.
On one hand, mainstream cheerleader mentality with colouring book journalism, on the other, professionals with actual insight. As was pointed out decades ago, 'journalists' and 'reporters' are now the product of privileged backgrounds and boutique degree-granting institutions, more worried about their BMW payments and overpriced mortgages.
NYT have shown too many shoddy, agenda-driven editors who don't seem to have any reason for their paper existing, the WaPost has inside stories but too much otherwise fluff and brain-dead 'opposing points of view columns/opeds'. I'll stick to sharp and focused sources like The Economist, Science, and online sources that I have vetted over a trial period.

Sounds like a CO judge can't even read correctly, except to duck out like a coward from making a ruling that would bring them death threats and the like from Trump and his CO gun-humping fanbois.
And, wow, I hadn't even heard Popok's assertion that the judge was affected by the storm of violence that would have surrounded her and her tacit reaction to that by removing her whole spine, putting it in the closet, and ruling as she did.
She goes through and interprets 'insurrection' where the words aren't a direct match, makes qualitative judgements of witness 'believablity' instead of just taking the points they make as matters of fact, finds he was an insurrectionist based of all those interpretations, BUT THEN pulls a 'run away, RUN AWAY" back into her cave of literalism and shouts out from the darkness of strict construction that the 'magic words' are an exact match for 'office' and therefore don't let her kick him from the ballot. That is, she is busy interpreting everywhere, but backs down cuz word-wank.
Perfect example of how technical people like scientists and engineers are held to stronger standards, because REALITY will kill people and doesn't care about gold fringe on the courtroom flag, etc. which this judge used to make her cowardly, self-serving decision.

Of course the Tory 'rebellion' has collapsed.
The only drones left are the dregs, after anybody with any ability has been swept out by scandals over the last decade, leaving only the coffee grounds at the bottom of the cup.
They are just the human fence posts that are the overwhelming case of Tories, people who don't and/or can't thimk because "Math is Hard [tee-hee]", ala Barbie, or just can't be bothered to raise their snouts out of their pig trough, anymore.
It will happen to Labour, EVENTUALLY, but there's a lot of rows to hoe until then, while there are still some semi-competent people still left with the ambition to take a try.
And, as you observe, this is a distillation process which will get rid of moderates, just like Corbyn ruined Labour for all those years with the nutjob Left 'in charge', but really just all paddling a drifting boat in different directions while urging themselves, in their heads, to 'stay the course' only they saw.

The 'Royal Family' is really nothing but a PR Circus.
There is a reasonable time to delay releasing information, but for a 'Family Concern' that get HUGELY superior medical care courtesy of THE TAXPAYERS and who exist mainly at the suffrage of THE TAXPAYERS, those TAXPAYERS deserve a reasonable and honest explanation of what is going on.
No need to televise the surgical procedure, but 'The Royals' need to get with the program or just GO AWAY and let a democracy take over ALL power and prestige.
Of course, that will make all the other 0.5%ers, who live well ONLY because their ancestors KILLED, RAPED, AND ROBBED for The Crown,. suddenly have to face similar questions of just WhoTF are these parasites? I'm talking the powerful half-wits like BoJo, ESPECIALLY.
Also, this is hard for people who have no real respect for The Royals, but see them as the Clown Car they are.

They can leave ..., after paying back the initial investment and upkeep of the interstates, paying market value (independently assessed) all US federal property, LOSE ALL OIL LEASES and become ineligible for any future leases, required visas for entry to the US, lose all overflight rights, all interstates air-gapped, along with bridges, and a whole slew of other privileges for being part of the US ..., the WHINY, SPOILED CHILD IN THE CEREAL AISLE part of the US ...

Americans RARELY accept verdicts they don't personally agree with, on both sides of the fence.
It is only the law enforcement system that keeps us from descending into chaos. And by that, what is key is the law enforcement system COMBINED with the tacit understanding of what people PERSONALLY have to lose, socially, financially, and professionally, if they don't follow law enforcement comply with The Law of the Land.
Or, did the Civil War, the 1960's riots, LA riots, and the like not occur?
BTW, Rudy Giuliani lecturing on Defense Tactics and even just fundamentals of The Legal System? His thoughts and brain storms are the epitome of what I am talking about.

You don't know Richard Osmond?!
He's the Rick Beato of TV Intelligence outside the Duh Culture of the US.
Let's face it, in the music culture outside the 1900s, it was the composer who mattered, not the players. Yeah, there were Strauss touring orchestras and Sousa bands and Toscanini dramatics, but what we really get passed down was the music, itself, not the hero-worshipped groups and virtuosos who played the music. There will be no end of GREAT performers.
Maybe this is just the music game returning to its roots, where GOOD to GREAT music didn't need the childish histrionics and soap opera dramatics to sell GOOD to GREAT music?
Also, what would it have been like with the Beatles only having solo careers, not to mention other bands with maybe only one real talent and several backups? Richard Wright might have emerged as a great UK jazz performer and composer ..., or maybe NOT, for example.
