Yes , they were a safe harbour for many from the West and from the East . Yugoslavia was extremely important to many people just because it had a lot more freedom than the USSR. On the other hand they were not a pro USA country . Yugoslavia worked in many good ways and Tito should have tried to adres the differences as well . But he was just one . Others could have made more effort into modernising the power structure . On behalf of Yugoslavia i say these problems are being faced by many nations and Federations in the world. Nigeria is a good example . Belgium also . It needs working inside federations of different people. But USA destroys everything. Britain also .
