@goatmansasquatch1485 Obviously we dont want him to reoffend but making prison almost entirely punitive is how the US ends up with a prison population greater than all other countries combined.

@goatmansasquatch1485 How can you honestly say that rehabilitation doesnt work when there are countries like norway with a recidivism rate of 20%? Less than half that of the USA. Additionally one of the major problems with a system like the one you are in favor of is what happens to people that get found innocent later on? Typically if they go to prison they they get a settlement offer but if you start mutliating people no matter how much money you give them there quality of life will be forever diminished.
