peace =/= any religion ever

I think he reconciles it in the sense that, know he knows the the right way to fight that sort of behaviour is not through violence and killing civilians.
3
that doesn't help with reintegration, we need to find a different way to keep people safe but also give them a fair chance to become a productive member of society

what is he then?
1
why?

@0poIE how do you know its a lie?
1
@0poIE Well if you watched the video you would see that he is pretty reasonable, he acknowledges his wrong doing and now tries to help deradicalizing other young Muslims.
1
@jimmymcjimface2607 no one is forcing him to come out and tell people that he did this, or forcing him to help deradicalize young Muslims, if he truly only cared about self preservation he would have kept his mouth shut. This video will likely cause social harm for him but he is willing to accept that to share his story.
1
@jimmymcjimface2607 That still leaves the question of why, if he is such a snake would he actively continue to seek out to try to help deradicalize you Muslims? You mentioned this but did not justify it. It doesn't make any sense for him to actively seek out a platform to share his story? This would add danger of retaliation from other Muslim extremists who might not have even known about him. The premise of your entire argument aslo seems to be based on the idea that someone who realises their wrongs and turns in anyone who was part of their group must just be an untrustworthy self serving snake. There is just no convincing you; If he had realised his wrongs and not turned in his associates, you would say he was protecting them and that he is still a terrorist that couldn't be trusted. What would convince you trust him? If the answer is nothing then that is illogical.

he never blamed the internet, he literally just said what you are saying that it was a catalyst/pathway into extremism. Also he was 17 not 18.

probs just some interference

what????

?

no religions are religions of peace.

@AllezThierryHenry I wasn't supporting state atheism, I am supporting secularism. Also those two examples more relate to communism than to Atheism
1
@AllezThierryHenry they are also not apt comparisons of catholic or Muslim theocracies
1
@AllezThierryHenry you know the USA is secular right? and so is just about every developed country. Also how is secularism more intolerant than theocracies? and how does it lead to "cultural death" and "social suicide". Seriously how do you think that religion which promotes tribalism, is less violent and less tolerant than secularism which is neutral?
1
@AllezThierryHenry correlation =/= causation
1
@AllezThierryHenry whether or not they are religious is only relevant if that believe or lack of belief was the cause of their attack. And in the case of atheism please point me towards a mass shooting where the shooter was focused on getting rid of religion?
1
@AllezThierryHenry the first example you brought up, as I said already is more an example of communism intolerance towards religion not secularism. secondly in the case of the French it wasn't because they hated religion or because they didn't believe in religion themselves, but because The church and the monarchy supported each other. In the case of the massacres they were trying to suppress any counter-revolutionary activities because the church was still in support of the monarchs. as for your third argument, I couldn't really understand what you were trying to say but I'll try to respond Atheism is a lack of belief in a god, nothing more nothing less. It doesn't have a stance any particular issue so anyone who is a mass shooter and happens to also be an atheist cant be influenced by this lack of stance, it is only their own personal beliefs which they push.
1
@AllezThierryHenry A lack of belief is not a belief system
1
@AllezThierryHenry belief noun 1. an acceptance that something exists or is true, especially one without proof. 2. trust, faith, or confidence in (someone or something). Atheism fits neither of the definitions
