This is totally irrelevant for recipes I know, because every single item is measured in grams here. Only trivial 1:1 liquids, like water or milk, are measured in millilitres. The advantage: you only need one scale and tare at every ingredient. No ambiguity over the amount. With cups, this isn’t the case: scoop flour with the cup or scoop flour in the cup and you’ll have differing amounts. Then you need guidelines and everything – overly complicated. The predetermined product size problem also wouldn’t be as big of a deal, because the ratios would stay the same. Finally: tablespoons, half cups, 1½ teaspoons etc. are volumetric units and many people only have one set of measuring cups. You have to clean them every time. I’d rather use a scale and mix everything in the same bowl (or cook everything in the same pan) that it would end up in anyway. Kind regards from Europe.
