  3. I'm am English linguist who lived in Japan. Your Japanese is excellent. I've caught a couple of people saying things about my gaijin friends. One older man said to his friend he liked my beautiful Australian friend who had a figure like a super model. His friend told him "Good luck, you'll need a step ladder". Another time a group of us gaijin were waiting at the crossing to cross the rail line. Two elderly ladies looked at my Australian male friend, 6ft 2, blond, blue eyes (swoon), and said "I bet he's got a big one". We laughed and said, "Sumimasen Obasan, toki doki gaijin wa Nihongo wakaru". It might not be grammatically correct, but they got the picture. Mostly though they are saying things like "Nice hair", or "pretty". Fun times.

  4. @schan263  I think they showed a photo of her father wearing a martial arts suit. Maybe he ran a dojo and taught his daughter from infancy, hence she said she's 5th dan. I think that's a great achievement. I've know 3 men who were 5th dan, and although all were fantastic men, knowing this fact does give you a reverence of them, like they are superior. This might be why guys are hesitant to approach her. They feel intimidated, even though she isn't intimidating.

  5. Japanese people WOULD take you to the ice cream store, or kaiyukan, or hotel, or train station. They are really kind, thoughtful, and helpful

  8. His eyes are 100% Japanese. There's thousands of Japanese Brazilians both in Brazil, and now as adults working in Japan. Lovely people. In fact 99.99% of Japanese people are lovely.
