@hexikkeksik1662 He clearly is a fucking genius though. How many people create multiple billion dollar companies. How many people could really have a conversation about the topics and at the depth and knowledge level in this podcast, whilst dumbing it down a bit so other people can understand. Im not even a fan boy but calling someone like elon musk "a normal intelligent person" is absurd

@herbiehusker1889 people often say "elon is a fraud" but never actually expand on what they mean. How about you say something, literally anything, that remotely backs up your viewpoint

@Cesification999 listen to the podcast. Obviously his science team do more of the actual scientific work than him but he clearly very much knows wtf hes talking about and knows far more than the average person

@shubhamgupta-sv2hn im pretty sure he doesnt necessarily believe in simulated reality. He more thinks "if we ever create simulated reality then it is almost impossible that we arent currently in one". but that requires that we first create simulated reality

He doesnt have all his chips in electric cars. He as a single person is working on 2 possible benefactories for the human race, multiplanetary species and electric cars. It would be unwise to assume that technology wont improve to make electric cars far more environmentally friendly within the next couple decades. The electric car thing also isnt entirely to save the environment, its to maintain an efficient form of transport. Eventually fuel will run out, we might as well get onto finding an alternative before its too late for us to even move from place to place because the moment we lose mobility is going to be one of the key moments in the decline of our species

I love how anyone who is against electric cars on this basis somehow forgets that cultural evolution exists. Like yeah right now we dont have any amazing ways to store energy long term and right now we might get a lot of energy from coal but there is this crazy thing thats been around for a few million years called "discovery". now discovery can fix a lot of problems once it happens, for example they fixed the fact horses needed to sleep by creating a long horse that goes a long a track called a "train." They fixed not being able to see in the dark without a fire by creating a lightbulb. They will fix the use of coal for energy by utilising more renewable sources of energy. They will probably one day solve the battery problem as well. I dont personally know about anyone else but i would rather they tried to fix the problems than just wait for the extinction of humans, but that just might be me.
