take a ladder to the beach on the east coast. Watch the sun set and then immediately climb the ladder. Huh, weird how you just watched the sunset twice on a flat planet

Thomas Victorian elon musk doesnt think we live in a computer simulation. He thinks if we ever create a full simulated reality then the chance that we live in a simulation is almost 100%. Theres also the fact that there isn't any real evidence to say we do or do not live in a simulation so either side can at least be considered somewhat plausible. Theres a plethora of evidence and experimentation in favour of a globe earth and no real evidence against it

@themorgan9805 newtons laws are actually almost exact models of everything people witnessed in the time of newton. They just dont account for objects of high speed where special relativity comes into play but of course how could they when he formulated them before we even figured out why things always fall towards the ground
1
@themorgan9805 einstein actually developed his theory of special relativity (note the word theory because people of science realise when there is sufficient proof or not) to have it then proven by someone else decades later. I also bet youve never conducted a single scientific experiment to prove the earth is flat. The earth, and everything attached to the earth (i.e the entire atmosphere and everything inside the atmosphere) spin at the same angular rate. They can use a gyroscope because even on a tennis ball, if you zoom in far enough it starts to look flat, despite actually being curved, in fact i bet youd struggle to find a single naturally occurring object that is perfectly flat. The sun and the moon dont operate on the same cycle at all so idk what youre even trying to say there. Im betting the long distance photography youre talking about is the video taken from the cliffs of dover to france which perfectly line up with globe earth theory given the cliffs are hundreds of feet off the ground.

@themorgan9805 also find it interesting that your idea of a fact is "the sun is huge and 93 millions miles away - absurd"

@themorgan9805 actually im a physics major in my second year of university. I implore you to find a single example of something moving at a relatively low speed (1% the speed of light or less) that isnt almost perfectly modelled by newtons laws of motion. The theory of gravity hasnt been proven correct but that doesnt mean the phenomenon that we call gravity doesnt exist. Do things fall to the ground when you drop them? Yes so gravity exists. Is gravity exactly as we have theorized at this moment in time? Maybe, maybe not. If you think our description of gravity has nothing to do with the natural world then find any evidence against the theory of gravity. The entire scientific community would praise you as a god and you would basically be the next einstein. You seem to be pretty confident in what youre talking about so I bet thats a pretty easy task for a man of your education. curvature has been photographed and detected, in fact the flat earth model detects the curvature and just explains it as being "distance based perspective". The only reason you say its never been photographed is because "every photo taken is fake and photoshopped and fish eye lens". You cant see anything below the horizon with a powerful zoom you literally just made that up. I dont know why you used caps for "EXACTLY" when its by definition not exactly the same size, its roughly the same size, in fact its closer to the same size based on time of year and the point in the lunar cycle. The fact they are roughly the same size doesnt debunk the big bang theory in any way "something so random couldnt create so many perfect things" yet you literally named 2 perfect things in the entire universe. Evolution is observable in a lab, in fact there is a famous experiment on populations of bacteria that has been running for decades at this point which completely proves the random and generally improving nature of evolution. The moon doesnt move on the same path as the sun. Pendulums prove the spin of the earth. If you think no one can demonstrate gravity then youre genuinely stupid because to demonstrate it all you have to do is drop an object Also yes Im aware that youre a troll, its super obvious. Youre not very good at trolling

@themorgan9805 Density doesn't explain why anything falls towards the earth (as opposed to any other direction) or why when you create a vacuum things dont suddenly start floating when placed inside said vacuum. Yeah you can spot fish eye lens pretty easily in most cases but how do you spot a computer generated image lmao. You can see a boat over the horizon on a clear day because the temperature difference between the air and water acts as a lens, distorting the light towards the zoom. Im not even gonna say anything more about the sun and moon part other than the fact you think looking at something and then looking at something else is a form of exact measurement is hilarious. Actually the big bang theory implies that at some point nothing existed, not that matter existed without space or time. The fact that some coincidental things exist isnt a proof of anything, its actually the reason "coincidence" is a word. "there is no such thing as a million years" is probably my favourite point from you tbh

@Asshat Thirteen (im not a flat earther btw) a lot of flat earthers use the argument of organisations like nasa receiving government funding and so telling the public space is real gives reason for more tax (or something along those lines)
1
@Asshat Thirteen Im not saying I know the answers, I'm saying that just because you cant think of a reason thats valid to you doesnt mean other people cant think of reasons that are valid to them
1
@Asshat Thirteen Dont know why youre telling me this when all I was replying to is the fact you couldnt see a reason for people to lie about space
1
@Asshat Thirteen Your genuinely as self confident and delusional as a flat earther
1
@Asshat Thirteen Where did I defend them, I'm literally just saying that you being super arrogant about what you know makes you as bad as them. Just because you cant think of something doesnt mean no one else cant. Get off your high horse
1
@Asshat Thirteen I never said it was real or valid or plausible I said that you not being able to think of a reason why someone would want to hide the flat earth doesnt mean there is no reason why. If theres so much information to put an end to flat earth then why do you insist that "there is absolutely no reason why someone would want to lie about it." There can be a reason to lie about it even if its not actually a lie and you just broadly claiming theres no reason to lie about it makes you look less credible.
1
@Asshat Thirteen See you keep saying all that but I already gave you a reason why someone living in a flat earth might want to lie about the earths shape
1
@Asshat Thirteen My man I literally gave you a reason that you said is plausible proving the fact that just because we cant think of reasons doesnt mean there arent any. We arent flat earthers, we arent constantly trying to come up with a theory of the earth being flat
1
@Asshat Thirteen Your entire point was that "theres literally 0 point to hide the truth" which is just straight untrue. I never said anything about whether you should believe it or not, just that saying "theres no reason to hide the truth" is one of the dumbest points for globe earth ive ever heard
1
@Asshat Thirteen again, not talking about whether there is a reason to believe in flat earth, talking about whether or not there is a reason for people to lie about it if it were flat, which youve already conceded there is because I gave you an example. There is also plenty of reason to believe in flat earth. If you havent yourself seen with your eyes that the earth is a ball, if you havent personally flown around the world in a private plane, if you havent done enough study in the sciences to understand the theory behind a globe earth. Theres LITERALLY no reason to say "theres no reason to believe in it" because any person will find their own reasons for believing in anything they believe in. Stop being such a child an accept that other people look at things differently to you.
1
@Asshat Thirteen Damn you really think everyone thinks like you. If i was a paranoid person and someone told me a whole bunch of stuff i didnt understand and that stuff apparently proved the earth is a globe despite the fact that me walking around everyday gives the impression the earth is flat, Im not just gonna think the earth is round. This is by definition a philsophical debate, the very nature of the question "Why do I think this" is philosophical.
1
@Asshat Thirteen Im not defending their right to ignore actual facts wtf are you talking about. Literally all ive talked about is whether or not there is reason to lie about the earths shape and whether or not there is reason to believe the earth is flat, both of which there are. This debate "is the earth flat" was never philosophical, its always been scientific, but i was never talking about and initially you werent either. The debate "is there reason to believe this thing" is always philosophical. No the shape of the earth isnt in doubt, among those intelligent enough to understand the proof. That doesnt mean its not in doubt for everyone because not everyone has the superior intellect that you have. Although interestingly someone of you supreme intellect cant even understand that I have never once defended the assertion that the earth is flat
