@Robert Jameson It does make sense, just because he doesnt communicate the ideas completely in a way you understand doesnt mean it doesnt make sense

Kanye isnt looking everywhere for an answer, his mind just runs a million miles a minute so when he gets asked a complex question, as he says in the podcast, it sends him down a rabbit hole. Joes job as an interviewer is to find articulate answers to his questions from the guest. Hes doing a good job of summing up what kanye said in a more digestable way. If you actually listen to what kanye says and then what joe says, its basically the same thing but joe trimmed off the fat

@cp3190 He literally revolutionised hip hop on multiple occassions. So much so that people would call his new albums bad and then 2 years later everyone would be trying to copy them
2
@MichaelCorleone654 Hes been big since before the "current climate of shitty pop art" and has also revolutionised rap music multiple times. Stop talking out of your ass about something you clearly know nothing about
2
@alicedoors4826 thats the most boomer comment ive ever heard. Youve clearly never even tried to look into his music if you dont realise how expressive it is

@damyr Imagine thinking one of the most influential musicians of the modern era is a dumbass
1
@damyr do you wanna try have that one make sense buddy
1
@MsTammi125 yeah and now because of that shes richer than your entire blood line will ever be

@brad1928 So what youre saying is the use of the phrase "i am a genius" immediately disqualifies you from being a genius? Thats pretty retarded seeing as having an ego and being a genius arent mutually exclusive

@SubscribersWithoutAnySubscribe Kanye is the 52nd most popular artist on spotify, right now. Despite the fact hes been succesful in the music industry for almost 25 years. KSG debuted at number 2 in the charts. Stop talking shit and making stuff up

@SubscribersWithoutAnySubscribe "Kanye's music does about as well with his listeners as hundreds of artists, it's been 5+ years since it's even been competitive with the industry pack leaders." As I just showed you was untrue. You said before there are thousands of artists who have been more successful but now youre saying theres only hundreds with only similar achievements. You cant really evaluate whether or not hes a trend setter in music anymore given the last trends hes set are still popular and developing. He doesnt get most of his streams from collabs. Its also weird that you would criticise him for not being a trend setter but also criticise him for not making the next big song. Those are 2 opposite arenas. The people who make the next big song are the ones preying on trends, not the ones setting them. Also what does his biggest song being made in 2005 have to do with anything, other than proving his genius seeing as that song is still extremely popular despite being 15 years old

@SubscribersWithoutAnySubscribe "he gets as many streams on spotify as other mid-tier artists" What lmao, spotify is the most popular music streaming platform in the world, 52nd best artist on spotify isnt "getting as many streams as mid tier artists". I never said his competitiveness is growing but trying to act like he still isnt incredibly competitive is hilarious. You refined it to 100 so you could talk about the ones still around doing interviews, yet have barely been naming any in any of your comments, let alone 100. Obviously Im not gonna have the answers to all the trend setters through musics history but grunge music was around for a decade before nirvana popularised it. Thats not trend setting, thats popularising. Billie eilish literally has a song that sounds like a song off kanyes album yeezus. Thats the point of people like kanye who are trend setters and genre definers, especially in hip hop, is that its often lesser known artists who cave out the new sound and then someone gets lucky making music of that sound and blows up making it popular. Kanye is the one who has been caving out the new sound. A great example of that is kanyes 808s and heartbreak basically being the album that drake based his music off. 808s is one of kanyes less successful records yet drake got lucky with the new sound and is now one of the biggest stars in the world. Not to mention all the other smaller artists trying to do the same thing and not getting as lucky

@SubscribersWithoutAnySubscribe The top streamed artist on spotify doesnt even have twice as many monthly listeners as kanye, not to mention they dont even make the same type of music. You might wanna stop pulling things out of your ass like you have been this entire time. Not to mention the fact that spotify listeners isnt a completely accurate metric to judge someones competitiveness, seeing as you can have 1 hit song that gives you 10 million listeners yet have no one listen to your other songs (which is actually pretty common now thanks to tik tok). It just gives a rough idea of an artists "competitiveness".

hes not just a person with mental disorders surrounded by yes men though... Dudes literally one of the most influential artists of the past half century
1
@jgasp I never said vote him into white house, and you never even referenced that in your initial comment either. "now that he found religion" Kanyes been religious his entire life, in fact one of his first big hits as a rapper was a song about jesus. I also love how youre downplaying the significance of being an influential artist, you realise culture is the main form of human evolution at this point right? Also, its not lots of rappers copied him. Its most modern genres of music copy him
1
@andrewvasquez7872 What about being one of the most influential musicians of the modern era of music, pretty sure that qualifies you as a genius
1
@andrewvasquez7872 a computer is a musical instrument nowadays, catch up. Influencing multiple genres of music requires a level of creativity that most of us wouldnt ever see in person. He did rap in a way no one else did, and create beats in a way no one else did, and then managed to make something no one else even knew how to do popular. Influence does not require longstanding popularity in the context im talking about. Im not talking about being able to post "hey buy this shirt" and then a bunch of people go buy it. Im talking about influencing the way in which people make music by developing and popularising new sounds. That doesnt have anything to do with long standing popularity it has to do with being creative and being able to make something that resonates with a group of people. Every significantly influential artist is a genius yes. And to answer your question, I havent looked into much of elvis' work but Id imagine he probably is

@alex4863 Intelligence isnt being book smart. Creativity is one of the highest indicators of intelligence

@alicedoors4826 you seem like the type that would be a travelling salesman because you just make bs up
1
@alicedoors4826 You might wanna learn what unoriginal means because i guarantee youve never been called a travelling salesman (no i dont care that youre a woman although that does make sense because they are typically better at bull shitting). I also never called you a boomer and youre the one who started the whole "trying to figure out strangers on the internet" thing. Maybe take a look in the mirror before acting so high and mighty
