The problem is if you dont quarantine at all then your already fucking terrible healthcare system will get overwhelmed and youll have likely millions of deaths, especially in poor areas since only rich people in america get adequate health care

no its about making sure the hospitals arent so full that people just die waiting in line on the street. Have you seen whats happening in new york?
4
@plopping-wetlyacademyofmot9639 New york is representative of what happens when the number of cases gets too high for hospitals to handle
3
seriously? Thats kinda fucked people must be having fucked withdrawals, especially during a time of extra stress
3
@cimo8daimao13 Yeah but you only need to be able to do it once. After that any extra just becomes pointless fear mongering and ultimately meaningless.
3
@austyn81007 where tf did you hear .2% death rate lmao thats so inaccurate
2
or else what? Nothings happened to joe so there clearly isnt an or else. Put your tin foil hat away
2
@jeffsmith3132 All tests have a false positive and a false negative rate.
2
@clampmotosua1789 what does the chinese communist party have to do with this. Also yes I do give up my freedom for personal safety, every single human being on earth does to an extent. Or do you drive at 130mph through school zones
1
@clampmotosua1789 wait so you gave up your freedom to drive a motor vehicle without being licensed so it would be safer? What are you one of those loser types that give up freedom for personal safety?
1
@clampmotosua1789 Also its not just about the life loss from corona. Everytime a patient with corona goes into hospital thats 1 less bed for someone with another condition. If the hospitals are full of people dying of corona then where are all the people in car accidents or work related accidents going to go
1
@clampmotosua1789 Given you just said "over step the amendment" i dont think youve read your rights
1
@clampmotosua1789 And doesnt matter what you can do on private property. You gave up your freedom to drive on public roads without license because you value safety
1
@clampmotosua1789 Also nice one "dont have sympathy for people suffering from addiction". Id really hope none of your friends or family suffer from addiction
1
@clampmotosua1789 please tell me what makes me look like a child because im 20 years old
1
Stop fucking giving advice you idiots im sure if theyve been diagnosed theyve talked to actual doctors who know wtf to take and to do to minimise the impact. Why the fuck would anyone trust you over their actual doctor
1
@iveneverseensuchbehaviorin5367 It kinda is common sense though. Our system isnt built to take a sudden influx of sick people, and this has shown that it needs to be otherwise chaos could easily ensue
1
@iveneverseensuchbehaviorin5367 Its not an isolated case, pandemics are a (somewhat) periodic event. Or did you forget about ebola, swine flu, mad cow disease, the spanish flu. It might not be a bigger event soon but probability wise there is more likely to be a at least another pandemic at some point soon than not
1
Yeah now imagine 2 tbs at once, how do you think hospitals and doctors would cope then. Also covid19 isnt an established disease yet. Youre also using "largely treatable" a bit liberally when according to you it had a 15% mortality rate in 2018
1
Yeah but you dont know how many would die from the virus if we all just acted like everything was fine.
1
@testabrody "ahh yes we should do all the stuff our massively uneducated ancestors did"
1
@testabrody If the virus burnt through with no intervention millions of people in america alone would die. Almost everyone would be close to someone that died. People would be depressed over loved ones dying and the government doing nothing to help it. You really have no idea what the effect of the virus on an unlocked down society would have compared to the effects of the lockdown. You dont even know the effects of the lockdown yet, its still happening. So stop talking like you somehow know the best course of action for the world
1
@testabrody Your statements false as well because slowing the spread not only decreases the death toll from all hospital related causes by preventing hospitals from being overrun but also increases the likelihood of effective medication or vaccines being available before the entire population has contracted it. If you could link me a source that says the mortality rate of the virus is 0.2% that would be greatly appreciated because i havent seen a single source that said that.
1
Yeah thats a good point. How about they take this years millitary budget and spend it on fixing the economy so you dont spent 5-10 years in a recession. Oh wait i forgot you need to be able to destroy the entire planet at least 20 times over to be considered a threat
1
You have 50k road deaths per year. You have had 75k corona deaths in the last half a year. Most people use cars every day. Not even close to everyone comes in contact with corona virus every day.
1
@smarticus6384 You havent learnt to handle a pandemic in an active society. You currently cant manage it while maintaining normal activity because if you do the number of cases will skyrocket, hosptials will be overwhelmed and people will die waiting in line for a respirator. To handle an active pandemic in an active society the number of cases needs to be so few that any new cases can be traced back to know everyone who may have contracted it. America has a fuck ton of cases so thats just not possible
1
@smarticus6384 Have you noticed that we dont have herd immunity to the flu? What about the 9% mortality rate of covid19 at a time where not everyones getting it at the same time. The faster people get it the higher the death rate is. You think killing of 25 million people immediately is the best decision?
1
@smarticus6384 The flu doesnt go anywhere. The environmental conditions change so the flu cant thrive as much, it mutates and then comes back the next year equally as strong as the last. And ok if you include the people who have it and are so asymptomatic they dont realise, ive found various sources ranging from 20-70% of people who have it dont even realise so lets call it an even 50%. The death rate is still 4-5% with it still being a not very developed disease (also take into account the fact chinas probably lying about their numbers although there is no proof). Thats still 10 million people in america dead if everyone gets it. Also saying "it wasnt covid that killed them" is stupid. Smoking doesnt kill people but lung cancer deaths of smokers are attributed (rightfully so) as smoking related deaths
1
@smarticus6384 Also we literally have a new vaccine for the flu every year.
1
@smarticus6384 Yeah i dont doubt that at some point well be able to manage it but right now theres no chance. Everyones too retarded and self entitled to stick to rules and we dont have any hard cut "solutions" formulated
1
Yeah because were all in lockdown and its not a well established virus like the flu is. If we didnt lockdown it would kill millions in the US alone. Do you have any flu statistics of the flu during a lockdown?
1
@NoName-rl3fh Im aware they are but you just said hes going against what they want and he hasnt experience an "or else" so im wondering what your "or else" is. Because nothing bads happened
1
if only yall had actually jumped on it it would probably be over by now
1
You say that but you have to pay for the test kits, pay for the shipping to the houses. Pay the people doing the shipping. Pay for the shipping and people doing the shipping to take it back and then pay a fuck ton of people to sort through them and see what households are quarantined then also pay people to make sure quarantined houses are staying quarantined. Good luck with that
1
wtf are you talking about crackhead
1
@jeffsmith3132 Yes and they obviously didnt actually have it so its a false positive. Something every test has a chance of
1
@malorie8557 so?
1
@oxmodius What does europe have to do with this? Are you saying the level of health care you get in america isnt anything to do with your wealth. Either youre rich and can afford it or you go into debt (or choose to just ignore your health issues if you dont want the debt)
1
@sexp1stol There is literally no chance of you running out of resources from a few months of quarantine
1
@icomm8271 Just want to add to that, where i live we couldnt go basically anywhere except our house, the supermarket, medical centres or for walks. We spent a month like that and now we have like 100 known cases in the country and are about to go back to (almost) normallity
1
@oxmodius No im advocating for my own country which has gone into full lockdown (harsher than america) and has mostly national health care. We are about to come out of lockdown because we get like 1 new case per day nation wide. Our system is being praised as one of the best responses to corona virus world wide
1
@oxmodius What are you laughing at. We do https://www.health.govt.nz/our-work/diseases-and-conditions/covid-19-novel-coronavirus/covid-19-current-situation/covid-19-current-cases
1
@oxmodius youve gone awfully quiet, "simp"
1
@cfeegs No it isnt, because we went into full lockdown as soon as the virus started spreading rapidly and didnt start to come out until it was barely spreading at all. America meanwhile did nothing close to that. Not only that but we had wage subsidies from the start for all working people so companies didnt have to shut down and people didnt get laid off. The populations have nothing to do with what im talking about, its about how effectively they planned and implemented their reponse. Lockdown restrictions are literally being eased back on in some states while the spread is still very much rampant. America handled it horribly and with no direction.
1
@chriscleveland8025 Must suck that your government doesnt care about you lmao. I wonder if americans will still be super patriotic after how horribly this was handled
